I tre amici mangiano in un ristorante nel centro Bologna. The three friends are eating in a restaurant in the centre of Bologna. Assaggiano le crescentine fritte con mortadella, prosciutto crudo e altri salumi e formaggi tipici. They try the fried flat bread with mortadella, prosciutto crudo and other typical cold cuts and cheeses. Poi Marta ordina dei tortellini in brodo, Tony delle tagliatelle al ragù e David beve un bicchiere di vino mentre si gusta un piatto di lasagne. –Bene–dice Marta, –abbiamo già due fogli. -Well -says Marta, -we already have two sheets.

–Secondo il libro, ci sono altri fogli in altre regioni d'Italia –continua David. -According to the book, there are other sheets in other regions of Italy -David continues.

–Secondo voi l'uomo col cappello ha qualcosa a che fare con il libro? -Do you think the man in the hat has something to do with the book? Ha scritto lui le note? Did he write the notes?

David guarda il libro e risponde: David looks at the book and says: -He's somehow involved with this.

–In qualche modo è coinvolto con questa storia. I'm sure of it. Ne sono sicuro. He must have written in this book and arranged the sheets all over Italy. Deve avere scritto su questo libro e sistemato i fogli per tutta l'Italia. The three friends sit in silence.

I tre amici rimangono in silenzio. -Put the two sheets together -says Marta.

–Unisci i due fogli –dice Marta. -What?

–Che cosa? -David asks, looking at the book. –chiede David, guardando il libro. Marta puts the two sheets together, even though it does not seem to make much sense.

Marta unisce i due fogli, anche se non sembra avere molto senso. Tony looks at them and says: -There is a number to the left of each sheet.

Tony li guarda e dice a Marta: And David adds: -And another number to the right of each sheet, by themselves.

–A sinistra di ciascun foglio c'è un numero. Marta stops to think, then says: -So, there are random numbers, but there are numbers on the left and right, by themselves.

E David aggiunge: Suddenly, Marta stops and looks towards a bus stop.

–E a destra di ciascun foglio un altro numero, da solo. -What's going on, Marta?

Marta si ferma a pensare, poi dice: -the boys ask.

–Dunque, ci sono dei numeri casuali, però ci sono dei numeri a sinistra e a destra, da soli. -Beside the bus, look.

D'un tratto, Marta si blocca e guarda in direzione di una fermata d'autobus. The man in the hat!

–Che succede, Marta? Let's run! –chiedono i ragazzi. The three friends run towards the bus, but the man in the hat disappears around a corner.

–Accanto all'autobus, guardate. There is a bus to Rome in front of them. L'uomo col cappello! Marta smiles and asks David: -What is the third destination in the book? Corriamo! David checks the book and responds in amazement: -Rome.

I tre amici corrono verso l'autobus, ma l'uomo col cappello sparisce dietro un angolo. Get on, it looks like we have to go to Rome. Davanti a loro c'è un autobus per Roma. In front of them is a bus to Rome.

Marta sorride e chiede a David: Marta smiles and asks David:

–Qual è la terza destinazione del libro? –What is the third destination of the book?

David consulta il libro e risponde stupito: David consults the book and replies astonished:

–Roma. -Rome. Salite, a quanto pare dobbiamo andare a Roma. Go up, apparently we have to go to Rome.
