おお おとこ と お 母さん の 住んで いた ところ は ここ から たいへん 遠く の ある 森 の 中 でした 。

The place where the man and his mother lived was in a forest that was very far from here.
おお おとこ の お 母さん は おそろしい 魔女 でした 。

The man's mother was a terrifying witch.
ほら 鷲 の ような 高い 鼻 や 、 蛇 の ような 鋭い 眼 を 持った あの おそろしい 魔女 でした 。

He was a terrible witch with a tall nose like an eagle and sharp eyes like a snake.
それ は ある お 月夜 の こと でした よ 。

That was a moonlit night.
魔女 と おお おとこ が 眠り に ついた ころ 、 だれ か 家 の 外 から 戸 を 叩き ました 。

When the witch and the man fell asleep, someone knocked on the door from outside the house.
おお おとこ が 起きて いって 戸 を 開けて みる と 、 ふた り の 女 が 、 ひと り の 少女 を つれて 立って いた のです 。

When the man got up and opened the door, two women stood with a girl.
「 この 方 は 、 この 国 の 王女 様 です 。

"This person is the princess of this country.
私 たち は 侍女 な んです 。
わたくし|||じじょ||
We are maids.
今日 、 森 へ 遊び に お姫様 を お 連れ 申し ました ところ 、 道 に 迷って とうとう ここ へ きて しまい ました 。

Today, I took a princess to the forest to play, but I got lost and finally came here.
今天,我帶公主去森林玩的時候,她迷路了,最後來到了這裡。

Please lend me a place to stay just for this evening.

" A woman said, "I'm not sure I want to go to the restaurant.
すると 、 奥 から 、「 どうぞ 、 むさ い ところ です が 、 ゆっくり 休んで ください 。

」 と 魔女 が やさしい 声 で 言い ました 。

" The witch said in a gentle voice.
そこ で 三 人 は 、 中 へ 入って 休み ました 。

So the three of them went inside to rest.
翌朝 、 おお おとこ が 眼 を 覚まして みる と 、 ふた り の 女 は 、 黒い 鳥 に 、 お姫さま は 白鳥 に 変わって い ました 。

The next morning, when the man woke up, the two women had turned into black birds, and the princess had turned into a swan.
それ は 、 魔女 が 、 魔法 で そう した のです 。

That's because the witch did so with magic.
魔女 は 、 おお おとこ の 止める の も かまわ ず 、 三 羽 の 鳥 を 、 窓 から 投げ出して やり ました 。

The witch threw the three birds out of the window, even if the man tried to stop them.
女巫把三隻鳥丟出窗外,無視男人的阻擋。
三 羽 の 鳥 は 飛んで いき ました 。

Three birds flew away.
けれど 、 白鳥 は 、 夕方 に なる と 悲しげに 鳴いて 魔女 の 家 に 帰って き ました 。

But in the evening the swan cried sadly and came back to the witch's house.
おお おとこ は 不憫に 思って 、 こっそり と 白鳥 を 飼って やる こと に し ました 。

Feeling pity for her, the man secretly decided to keep the swan.
昼間 は 野原 へ 放って やって 、 夜 は 自分 の ベッド の 中 で 寝 させ ました 。
ひるま||のはら||はなって||よ||じぶん||べっど||なか||ね|さ せ|
During the day I let him go out into the fields, and at night he let me sleep in my own bed.
