May: Sí, no, es super interesante porque es verdad, ¿no? Muchas personas cualquier cosa que pasa de aquel lado, en Asia, es como "ay, los chinos."

Paulísima: Los chinos, sí.

Jim: Yo siento que aquí en México la gente habla más sobre el colorismo, no tanto el racismo.

Paulísima: Uh-huh, sí, exactamente. Es que tenemos, eh... lo que, bueno, vemos, como cosas muy fuertes que pasan en otros países con temas de raza. Nosotros pues tal vez no tengamos exactamente el mismo problema, tenemos otro problema. Y como tú lo mencionaste, sí es muy centrado en, pues sí, en el colorismo y también en el clasismo, que van ahí de la mano.

May: Sí, claro. Y es que yo creo que no es tanto del racismo porque en México tenemos como más variedad en los colores en los que venimos los mexicanos, ¿no? Entonces, por ejemplo, en lugares como en los Estados Unidos o en Canadá, cuando hay grupos en donde o eres super blanco o eres ya de, así negro, o hay muy pocos como en medio, a lo mejor. O no son grupos, a lo mejor, que son tan tomados en cuenta como parte de la sociedad. Entonces, allá se nota un poco más esto de que "oh, racismo. Porque yo soy blanco y tú eres negro." Pero aquí en México somos todo el arcoíris, ¿no? Hay los morenos, los más o menos claros, los no tan oscuros. Entonces, por eso hablamos más del colorismo, porque hay más niveles de colores, no sé.

Paulísima: Sí, sí, claro, ¿no? Y además como... no, desde hace muchos... de muchos años no tenemos esa división de tú eres esto y tú eres esto, ¿sabes?, como hubo después de la colonia. Pero tenemos un pasado colonial que aún sigue reflejado en nuestra sociedad y no es nada más nuestra impresión, ¿no? Hay datos, hay, hay... está muy, muy demostrada esa relación entre el color de piel y la posición que tiene un mexicano en... en el ...ajá, en la sociedad. Y su estatus socioeconómico va muy de la mano. Y bueno...

May: Las castas.

Paulísima: Sí. Claro que todo eso viene desde la época colonial, ¿no? Que nos dejaron los... los españoles. Pero... mira, como decimos en México, "arrieros somos y en el camino andamos"

May: Así es.

Paulísima: O sea, todo es un proceso.

May: Vamos con la última ya. La última también se refiere al color. Esta la puede decir Jaime, ¿no? Porque a ti te la dicen todo el... todo el tiempo.

Jim: Sí. Todos me dicen güero o güerito.

Paulísima: ¡Güerito claro que sí!

May: Y eso también, ¿no? Cualquier persona en tu grupo familiar o de amigos que es tantito más claro que el resto, ya es el Güero o la Güera.

Paulísima: Sí. Es totalmente cierto y de hecho en algunos videos de Spring Spanish que hemos hecho en YouTube tenemos como el... la... la cosa de que algunas personas comentan de que decirle güera, por ejemplo, a una persona, una mujer es como "racist," es que es racista. Y yo particularmente ahí, por lo menos con esa palabra, creo que ningún mexicano lo dice con una mala intención. A menos que te digan un... una palabra, un insulto antes del Güero, ¿no? Pero no es porque seas güero, es porque eres mala persona, porque les caes mal, no sé.

May: ¡Claro! De hecho, se utiliza aquí en México muchísimo por ejemplo cuando vas al mercado, ¿no? "Pásale güerita" te dicen. Aunque mira, yo de güera nada, ¿no? Pero así te dicen. Y es como... a veces como hasta un halago, yo siento.

Paulísima: Sí, por supuesto. Y claro, que viene también... está relacionado con el tema pues del colorismo, ¿no? Como una persona blanca en México tiene más probabilidades de que se encuentre en un buen estado socioeconómico, entonces es una cosa positiva ser güero y por eso te dicen güero como un... como una palabra de cariño. Aunque no seas güera, en el mercado una forma en la que te invitan a que pases a un lugar, por ejemplo, es "pásele güerita, pásele."

Jim: Sí. Y hablando del colorismo otra vez, pues güero normalmente no es algo... no es una palabra tan fea como negro o prieto, ¿no?

Paulísima: Sí. Pues la gente... porque el que la dice... sobre todo es la intención, ¿no?, del que la dice. Muchas veces sí, si quieres como herir a una persona porque como en la sociedad ser de piel oscura está, digamos, en una posición de desventaja y tú lo ves así y quieres insultar a la persona con esa intención, lo dices. O una persona que esté muy segura de sí misma y que está súper orgullosa de quién es y de sus orígenes, va a decir: "y a mucha honra."

May: Claro, sí. Negro, sí.

Paulísima: Negro y a mucha honra. Prieto y a mucha honra. Morena y a mucha honra.

Jim: Sí. Pero como dice May, en los mercados, por ejemplo, no... normalmente no te dicen "Oye, Prieta, pásate."

Paulísima: ¡No, para nada! Para nada. Y de hecho, sí, o sea, por cómo están, por el status quo, si te dijeran así, la gente podría quedarse un poco como que "oye, ¿qué te pasa, no? ¿Cómo qué por qué?"

May: Sí, claro. Super interesante, ¿no? Este tema que a lo mejor es un poco difícil de hablarlo porque es difícil aceptar que en México pues somos así, ¿no? Utilizamos nombres un poco hirientes, pero pues es parte de. Bueno o malo, ahí está, ¿no?

Paulísima: Lo sabemos. Y no, y creo que además es... es importante que se tengan las conversaciones, ¿no? Que lo hablemos, que lo cuestionemos y que no pensemos que tener actitudes en tu comportamiento, racistas o coloristas, no inmediatamente te hacen una mala persona. Somos productos de... de... esto viene de generaciones y es parte de la estructura. Muchas veces la gente rechaza la etiqueta de... de racista o de colorista, porque se imaginan que una persona con una actitud racista es prácticamente, no sé, como algo muy, muy feo. Así... un nazi, horrible, una cosa espantosa, un monstruo. Pero no. No somos monstruos. Somos personas que vivimos en una sociedad que tiene tanta influencia, bueno, tantas, tantos temas de clasismo y de colorismo que permean al individuo y no te hace una mala persona. Pero te debes de dar cuenta de que "Ja, creo que está mal que le digamos... que digamos esto," Lo cuestionemos, lo platiquemos y creo que así uno evoluciona, ¿no? Como individuo y como sociedad.

Jim: Claro que sí. Es un proceso muy lento, pero así es la vida.

Paulísima: Sí, exactamente. Super coincido.
