Passives with 被

You can explicitly mark a passive construct with the particle 被. It even sounds like “by” in English!

Place the particle directly before the “doer” of the action.

那个杯子被我摔破了.

That cup was shattered by me.

It’s worth noting that this kind of construction is very rarely used in conversation.
