إقرا سلامي على من لا أسميه read|my greetings|to|whom|not|I name him Read my greetings to the one I do not name

ومن بروحي من الأسواء أفديه and|with my soul|whom|the worst|I redeem him |||ongemakken| And I would sacrifice my soul for him

ومن أعرض عنه حين أذكره and|I turn away|from him|when|I mention him And whoever turns away from him when I mention him

فان ذكرت سواه كنت أعنيه so|I mentioned|someone else|I was|I mean him If I mention anyone else, I mean him.

أشر بذكري في ضمن الحديث له point|to my memory|in|within|the conversation|to him Point out my mention in the context of the conversation with him.

إن الإشارة في معناي تكفيه that|the indication|in|my meaning|it suffices him For the indication in its meaning is sufficient for him.

واسأله ان كان يرضيه ضنى جسدي and ask him|if|he was|it pleases him|my weakness|my body And ask him if the weakness of my body pleases him.

فحبذا كل شيء كان يرضيه so good|every|thing|it was|it pleases him So how wonderful is everything that pleases him.

فليت عين حبيبي في البعاد ترى I wish|eye|my beloved|in|distance|you see May my beloved's eye see in the distance

حالي وما بي من ضر أقاسيه my state|and what|in me|from|harm|I endure it My state and the harm I endure

هل كنت من قوم موسى في محبته whether|I was|from|people|Moses|in|his love Was I among the people of Moses in his love

حتى أطال عذابي منه بالتيه until|he prolonged|my torment|from him|in the wandering Until my torment from him was prolonged in the wilderness

أحببت كل سمي في الأنام له I loved|every|name|in|creation|for him I loved every name among humanity that belongs to Him.

وكل من فيه معنى من معانيه and every|who|in it|meaning|of|his meanings And everyone who has a meaning from His meanings.

يغيب عني وأفكاري تمثله he disappears|from me|and my thoughts|they represent him He disappears from me while my thoughts represent Him.

حتى يخيل لي أني أناجيه until|it seems|to me|that I|I converse with him Until it seems to me that I am conversing with Him.

لا ضيم يخشاه قلبي والحبيب به no|oppression|fears it|my heart|and the beloved|with it No oppression my heart fears, and the beloved is with it.

فإن ساكن ذاك البيت يحميه so|resident|that|house|protects it For the one who resides in that house protects it.

من مثل قلبي أو من مثل ساكنه from|like|my heart|or|from|like|its resident Who is like my heart or like its resident?

الله يحفظ قلبي والذي فيه God|protects|my heart|and that|in it May God protect my heart and what is in it.

يا أحسن الناس يا من لا أبوح به O|best|people|O|who|not|I reveal|it O best of people, O one I do not reveal about

يا من تجنى وما أحلى تجنيه O|who|he has wronged|and not|sweeter|his wronging O one who has wronged, and how sweet is your wrongdoing

قد أتعس الله عينا صرت توحشها indeed|I have made miserable|God|an eye|I became|I frighten it May God make miserable the eyes that have become wild for you

وأسعد الله قلبا صرت تأويه |God|a heart|I became|I shelter it And may God bring happiness to the heart that has come to shelter you

مولاي أصبح وجدي فيك مشتهرا my lord|has become|my passion|for you|famous My lord, my passion for you has become well-known.

فكيف أستره ام كيف اخفيه so how|I hide it|or|how|I conceal it So how can I conceal it or how can I hide it?

وصار ذكري للواشي به ولع and it became|my mention|to the informer|about it|a passion And my memory of it has become a source of gossip.

لقد تكلف أمرا ليس يعنيه indeed|he has taken on|a matter|not|it concerns him He has taken on a matter that does not concern him.

فمن أذاع حديثا كنت أكتمه so whoever|he spread|a talk|I was|I was keeping it secret Whoever has disclosed a secret I was keeping

حتى وجدت نسيم الروض يرويه until|I found|a breeze|the garden|it narrates Until I found the breeze of the garden narrating it

فيارسولي تضرع في السوال له so my messenger|he implored|in|the question|to him So, O my messenger, plead in asking for it

عساك تعطفه نحوي وتثنيه may you|you show kindness to him|towards me|and you turn him away Perhaps you will turn it towards me and soften it.

إذا سألت فسل من فيه مكرمة if|you asked|then ask|from|in it|honor If you ask, ask from someone who has nobility.

لا تطلب الماء إلا من مجاريه not|you seek|water|except|from|its channels Do not seek water except from its streams.
