أيها الإخوة المواطنون أعضاء المؤتمر القومى:

إن مؤتمركم بالنسبة لى حدث هام، ولعلكم ترون أننى حضرت إليه يومياً، وشاركت فى أعماله منذ بدأ دورة انعقاده الحالية.

إن هذا المؤتمر توافق مع تطورات لها أهميتها، ولها خطورتها على طريق نضالنا الطويل، وكان وجودكم معى ووجودى بينكم فى هذا الوقت بالذات مشاركة أعتز بها، وسنداً تقوى به مواقفنا وتحركاتنا نحو هدف محدد وضعته الحوادث أمامنا تحدياً لمبادئنا، بل وتحدياً لحياتنا، وارتضينا جميعاً أن نعيش من أجله، وأن نموت من أجله إذا اقتضى الأمر.

إن لقاءاتنا خلال الأيام الأربعة الأخيرة، وفى ظلال الأمجاد العظيمة لثورة الشعب المصرى فى ٢٣ يوليو سنة ١٩٥٢ زادتنى اقتناعاً بأن هذا الشعب قادر على مسئولية التحدى.. تحدى المبادئ وتحدى الحياة، وبأنه سوف يعيش لمبادئه وبها، وأنه سوف ينتصر لمبادئه وبها.

إن النصر عمل، والعمل حركة، والحركة فكر، والفكر فهم وإيمان؛ وهكذا ترون أن كل شىء يبدأ بالإنسان.

وهنا فى هذا المؤتمر - كما فى كل موقع من مواقع العمل على أرضنا المقاتلة - كان الإنسان المصرى على مستوى التحدى، مؤمناً وفاهماً، مفكراً متحركاً، عاملاً منتصراً بإذن الله. لقد كانت أمامكم، وأمام شعبنا كله فى هذا المؤتمر قضية من أعقد قضايا الإنسانية والتاريخ، أعقد ما يمكن أن يواجهه شعب من الشعوب فى أى مرحلة من مراحل نضاله، وهى قضية الحرب والسلام.

وخلال المناقشات فى الجلسات المفتوحة، أو فى الجلسات المغلقة؛ فإن طريقكم كان واضحاً، لا لبس فيه ولا عوج، لا اضطراب فيه ولا ارتباك.

نحن نسعى للسلام من أجل السلام، ونحن لا نريد الحرب لمجرد الحرب، ولكن السلام له طريق واحد هو طريق انتصار المبادئ مهما تنوعت الوسائل ومهما زادت الأعباء والتضحيات، بغير انتصار المبادئ لا يكون السلام سلاماً، ومن هنا نستطيع القول بشكل محدد وحاسم أن السلام انتصار، والانتصار سلام. إن وقفة قواتنا المسلحة على خطوط الجبهة، ووقفة جماهير شعبنا وراء هذه الخطوط، وهذا العمل الممتاز الذى قمتم به فى هذه الدورة لمؤتمركم؛ ليست ظاهرة عارضة فى تاريخنا، وإنما هى مشاهد من قصة شعب خبر الكفاح وتمرس به، وعاش قضايا الحرب والسلام، وعانى مسئولياتها، وترسبت فى أعماقه ذخيرة هائلة مما تركته تجارب الحياة فى ضمائر الشعوب.

ويضاعف من قيمة المكتسبات الهائلة فى ضمير الشعب المصرى، أن تجربته التاريخية كانت على مر العصور أوسع من مصلحته الذاتية، وأكبر من حدوده السياسية، وذلك بحكم انتمائه العضوى إلى أمة عربية تعيش فى قلب العالم جغرافياً وحضارياً.

ولست أريد أن أعود إلى الماضى وصفحاته المشرفة، وإنما يكفينا استعراض ما لا يزال حياً فى أذهاننا منذ اليوم الذى ارتفعت فيه أعلام ثورة ٢٣ يوليو، إن الشعب المصرى تحت أعلام هذه الثورة رفض السلامة عن طريق الانعزال، ورفض الأنانية، برفض كل مغرياتها الوقتية، لقد جعل قضية أمته قضيته، وعاش النضال من أجلها بحياته، وكان فى ذلك يصدر عن وعى بمسار التاريخ، لم يساوره فيه شك أو تردد، أثبت أبناء هذا الشعب دائماً أنهم الأمناء.. الأمناء بالكلمة، والأمناء بالفعل.

لم تكن الحرية الاشتراكية والوحدة بالنسبة له كلمات، وإنما كانت الحرية والاشتراكية والوحدة بالنسبة له أعمالاً، بل كانت كلها بالنسبة له قتالاً.

وليس هناك علم شريف يرفرف على الأرض العربية إلا وكانت يد الشعب المصرى أول الأيدى التى امتدت لتساعد على إقامته. وليست تعنينا فى ذلك شهادة أى فرد، وإنما تعنينا فى ذلك شهادة التاريخ، وذاكرة التاريخ مبرأة من العقد، ومن الأهواء، ومن التحزب، ومن النسيان.

أيها الإخوة:

بعد أربعة أيام من العمل الجدى والبناء؛ فإنكم الآن تتأهبون للعودة إلى قواعدكم وإلى جماهيركم، وتنقلوا من هنا إلى كل بقعة فى أرض هذا الوطن المناضل رسالة هذا المؤتمر.

نحن نريد السلام ولكن السلام بعيد، ونحن لا نريد الحرب، ولكن الحرب من حولنا، وسوف نخوض المخاطر مهما كانت دفاعاً عن الحق والعدل.. حق وعدل لا سبيل لتحقيقهما غير طرد قوى العدوان من كل شبر من الأرض العربية المحتلة سنة ١٩٦٧؛ من القدس، من الجولان، من الضفة الغربية، من غزة، من سينا، وحق وعدل لا سبيل لتحقيقهما غير استعادة الشعب الفلسطينى لحقوقه الشرعية، وخروجه من خيام اللاجئين ليدخل مدنه وقراه ومزارعه وبيوته، ويعود مرة أخرى إلى قلب الحياة بعد أن أرغمته الظروف أن يبقى من عشرين سنة على هامش الحياة.

ذلك - أيها الإخوة - هو الهدف والطريق.. انتصار السلام وسلام الانتصار.

هذه هى رسالة هذا المؤتمر، وهذه هى قضية شعبنا وقضية أمتنا العربية.
