Part 5

She drinks from her beer and replies, “She said that you saw each other in Egypt last year.”

Suddenly I feel colder.

I look out at the rain and feel even colder. I remember my visit to Egypt last year.

“That is true”, I say, “but your sister was busy all the time with her friends. We didn't talk much to each other.”

We continue to sit quietly. There are not many people in the cafe. The longer we sit without talking, the more unhappy I feel. I am starting to feel hungry. I call the waiter.

“Waiter, please bring us the menu.”

Elizabeth seems in a good mood and finishes her beer. She must be really thirsty because she then turns to the waiter and says, “I'll have another beer.”

I look at her strangely.
