Part 13
“First of all, if you have the jewels I suggest you return them.
Put them in this bag that I'm going to give you. This is a special bag. If the jewels are in the bag, they can't make people sick,” she says, giving me the bag. “And here is a special cream that you have to rub into your hands twice a day.”
“All right, If you say so. I just want to get the feeling back in my fingers. I certainly don't want the problem to spread from my fingers to my hands and arms,” I tell her.
“I will give the jewels to someone who can return them to Egypt, where they belong.”
As I take the bag, I ask, “When will my hands get back to normal?”
“My sister's hands have already started getting back to normal. She did the same thing. She has been using the cream for a week now.”
I look her in the face and say, “How do I know I can trust you?”
