Nashville

My name is Greg Marston. I was born in Nashville, Tennessee. My dad was a country singer trying to make it big, and my mom was a substitute teacher but was home most of the time to take care of us kids. I went to school in a small town just outside of Nashville. I always had a few close friends and we hung out almost everyday after school. I had never paid much attention in class, and I was always getting in trouble. I didn't much like school and I wasn't interested in sports. But one thing I was interested in was cars and playing country music. I often had helped my pa while he was working in the garage on his old Ford pickup. He asked me to fetch him tools and parts from the shed. I had loads of fun running back and forth. It was fun for me. I had developed an interest and it stuck with me for life. I also loved to play the guitar. My pa spent many hours teaching me songs he knew as a boy. I played for hours a night. I enjoyed it so much. I had often wondered whether I could become a famous singer like Blake Shelton or Luke Bryan. I couldn't decide. I had two loves in my life: playing country music and working on vehicles. In high school I took mechanic classes and worked on my own vehicles. My proudest achievement was when I rebuilt a 1980 Chevy Camaro from parts I had bought from all over. After high school I went right to work at a local garage in south east Nashville. It was tough work and I began to become bored and tired. A lot of my friends had moved away and I was starting to regret giving up on my music. Finally one day, when I was visiting the country music hall of fame with my long time girlfriend Kaylee, she told me something I had never forgotten. "You know, I never saw you happier then that one time you played guitar with your pa on the back porch for the whole family to see. You were a different guy back then Greg. You were yourself." I thought about what she had said for a few days then I made the best decision of my life. The next week I heard there was a talent show at the “Bullrun” and they were taking amateur country singers. I signed up and practiced hours everyday up until the show. I was nervous but my girlfriend Kaylee was there and so was my pa. It was the best show I had ever played, and just as I was walking off stage I was approached by Eric Church who wanted to offer me his mentor-ship and a chance to take on a record deal with his associated record company. I immediately said yes and I never looked back.
