Conversation #10 - An interview

Mr. Smith: Hello Mr. George Souza, how are you?

George: I am doing well, thank you. You must be Mr. Smith. It's a pleasure to meet you.

Mr. Smith: It's a pleasure to meet you, too. I see you have applied to work for our company and you are originally from Brazil.

George: Yes, I am from Brazil.

Mr. Smith: Are you legally allowed to work in the United States of America?

George: Yes sir, I am. I have a work permit to work here in the United States. However, it expires in November.

Mr. Smith: In case you want to continue working with us, can you extend the work permit?

George: I can certainly apply for an extension. However, the immigration authorities will have the final word.

Mr. Smith: That makes sense. Do you believe you are a good fit for our organization, Mr. Souza?

George: Certainly. I believe I possess all the positive qualities that your company stands for, Mr. Smith.

Mr. Smith: Could you please elaborate on that, Mr. Souza?

George: Of course. I am reliable, hard-working, passionate, and committed to achieving results. I believe that this is what this company stands for. I am confident that my references will confirm that I have these qualities.

Mr. Smith: Do you believe your work experience will contribute to this position?

George: I certainly believe it will. Working as a sales manager for "Silva Languages", I was able to increase regional sales in Canada by 25% in just one month. I believe that I can apply the same strategies in your company and achieve similar results.

Mr. Smith: That is impressive, Mr. Souza. This concludes our short interview. We will be in touch with you by tomorrow morning.

George: Thank you, Mr. Smith. Thank you for this opportunity.
