The Mice and the Cat

This story is by the Greek writer Aesop.

This story teaches us it can be easy to say an idea.

Mice like to be happy.

They run.

They play.

They eat all day!

There is a big house with many mice.

The house has a big kitchen.

In the kitchen, the mice find food.

They find lots of food!

The mice eat and eat.

They are happy mice!

One day, a cat comes to live in the big house.

She has big teeth!

"This is not good," says Maria Mouse.

The mice are hungry.

They go into the kitchen.

The cat chases them out.

The next day, the mice are more hungry.

They run into the kitchen.

The cat chases them out!

"What are we going to do?" asks Monty Mouse.

"We'll die!" says Max Mouse.

"Let's all talk together!" says Maria Mouse.

"Good idea!" says Monty Mouse.

The mice talk and talk together.

Their ideas are not very good.

Then, a small mouse says, "I have an idea."

"What is your idea?" asks Max Mouse.

"Let's tie a bell on the cat!" says the small mouse.

"A bell!" says Monty Mouse.

"A bell!" says Max Mouse.

"What a great idea!" says Maria Mouse.

Then an old mouse stands up.

"It is a good idea," says the old mouse.

"It is a great idea! But who will tie the bell on the cat? Who?"
