Eid- a story by a New Scot
Last year, in 2021, we celebrated Eid. Eid is a holiday after Ramadan. Some of us went to the mosque every Friday in Ramadan. We went to the mosque at 12 in the afternoon. Before Eid, the women cooked sweets. They cleaned the house. They went shopping. They went to buy new clothes for the children. The two weeks before Eid are very busy.
Eid was 3 days, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. At Eid we eat sweets and visit friends. On the Thursday in the morning, some of us stayed at home with our children. The children wore new jackets and jeans.
On Friday it was beautiful weather. Before we ate dinner, we visited our friends about 3 o'clock. We had a barbecue and stayed in the garden with our friends till about 7 in the evening. We ate red meat and chicken, and sweets. We wanted to go to bed at home at about 10 o'clock. Other people, however, visited friends in Glasgow and Kilwinning, travelling by train. They went to bed in Glasgow at 2 am!
We all had a good time because Eid was a holiday after Ramadan.
Every time it's Eid we are happy!
