Groan and grieve that you are still so carnal and worldly, so unmortified by passions, so full of the movements of desires, so unguarded in external senses, so often entangled in many various fantasies, so much inclined to external things, so negligent towards internal matters, so light-hearted towards laughter and indulgence, so hard-hearted towards weeping and compunction, so ready for laxity and the comforts of the flesh, so sluggish towards rigor and fervor, so curious to grasp and hear new things, and to behold beautiful sights, so remiss towards embracing the humble and the lowly, so eager to possess many things, so stingy in giving, so tenacious in holding on, so thoughtless in speaking, so incontinent in being silent, so disordered in morals, so importunate in actions, so excessive in eating, so deaf to the word of God, so swift to rest, so slow to labor, so watchful for tales, so sleepy towards sacred vigils; so hasty towards the end, so wandering in attention, so negligent in passing the hours, so tepid in celebrating, so dry in communicating, so quickly distracted, so rarely collected for yourself, so suddenly moved to anger, so easy to take offense at another, so prone to judge, so rigid in reproving, so joyful in prosperity, so weak in adversity, so often proposing many good things, and achieving little.
