갑자기 생강마늘이라니 무슨 소리지?

라고 생각하시는 분들을 위해 잠깐 설명을 드리자면

며칠 전에 제가 라이브를 할 때

같이 참여해주신

구독자분들하고 같이 팬닉이라는 것을 정했어요.

그니까 유튜버로써의 제 닉네임이 '생각많은 둘째언니'이듯이.

이제 제 영상을 봐주시는 여러분들을

제가 어떤 이름으로 부를 지 이게 팬닉인 것 같은데

여러분들과 다양한 논의를 거쳐

생강마늘로 정했습니다.

저의 구독자분들 제 채널을 좋아해주시는 분들은

뭐 인생을 상당히 spicy하게

칼칼하게 살아가시는 분들일거라고 생각하기 때문에

'뭐 나름 어울리는 좋은 팬닉이 아닌가?'라는 생각이 들어서

저도 굉장히 마음에 들더군요.

어 근데 팬닉 자체를 별로 안 좋아하시는 분들도 계셔서

제가 팬닉을 부를 때는 언제나 그렇지 않은 분들도 함께 호명하는 것으로 저 스스로 다짐하고 있습니다.

이제 오늘 영상의 본론으로들어가 볼게요.

영상의 제목에서도 밝혔듯이 오늘 영상의 주제는

저는 정치를 하나도 모르는데요? 입니다.

즉 정치를 하나도 모르지만

이제부터는 좀 알아볼까?

어떤건지 좀 생각해볼까?

라는 단계에 있는 분들을 위한 영상입니다.

작년 11월에 시작된 박근혜, 최순실 게이트가 벌써

11, 12, 1그리고 2월. 넉달이 넘게 지속이 되고 있고

이런 와중에 국민들의 정치 의식은

그니까 정치 자체에 대해서 관심을 갖게 되는 걸 정치의식이라고 했을 때

그런 정치의식은 그 어느때보다

높아져 있다고 생각되는 한편,

탄핵이 별 일 없이 저는 인용될 거라고 생각 하는데

그리고 나면 이제 다가오는 것은 대선이죠.

대통령을 탄핵했으니까.

공석이 된 대통령 자리를

탄핵일로부터 60일 안에

뽑아야하는 것이 우리나라의 법이므로

우린 또 대통령 선거를 치르게 되겠죠.

그래서 그러저러한 지금의 상황에

정치를 생각하기 시작하는 분들에게

제가 드릴 수 있는 얘기는 어떤게 있을까?

그런 생각에

이제 오늘 영상을 찍게 됐습니다.

정치에 대한 얘기는 제가 대선 때까지

모자라나마. 저는 정치 평론가도 아니고 학자는 더더욱 아니고.

그냥 이 세상이 나아가는 방향에 관심을 갖고 있는

일개인으로써

정치에 관련해서 제가 할 수 있는 얘기들을

그래도 제가 생각하는 것들을 조금은 공유할 수 있을 것 같아요.

이 정치영상 시리즈는 대선 때까지 아마

어..

적으면 다섯 개, 많으면 열 개 정도.

그런 시리즈로 만들어야겠다.

뭐 그런 생각을 하고 있습니다.

진짜 진짜 본론으로 들어가 보도록 할게요.

사실 저는 웬만한 문제들을 생각할 때

'어떤 지식보다는 태도가 훨씬 중요하다'고 생각하는 사람입니다.

다른 말로 하자면

답보다는 질문이 더 중요하다.

라고 생각하는 사람이에요.

그니까 무슨 얘기냐면

지식이 굉장히 많다고 하더라도

그것이 매순간 내 삶의 시간중에서의

행동으로 드러나지 않고

태도로 드러나지 않는다면

그 지식은 죽은 지식이고

제아무리 어떤 문제에 대해서

그럴듯한 답을 외우고 있다고 하더라도

정작 그 답이 어떤 질문에 대한 대답인지를

명확하게 알고 있지 못 하면

저는 그거는 그냥 외운 것?

외운 답은 언제나 답이지는 못 하죠.

왜냐하면 세상이라는 건 항상 변하니까.

그리고 그런 답을 스스로 갖고 있다는 것을 통해서

자기자신을 더욱 좋아하게 되진 못 할 거에요.

저는 옳은 것처럼 보이는 얘기를 많이 하는 것 보다

진짜로 자기 마음속에서 평생토록 궁금해 하면서

답해나갈 수 있는 진짜 질문 하나를

마음속에 품고 살아가는 게

훨씬 본질적인 거라고 생각하고.

아무런 책도 보지 않고

누가 얘기하는 걸 듣지도 않고

온전히 혼자 있는 상태에서

백지를 마주하고 나서

여기에 내가 나의 질문을 적어 내려갈수 있는 가,

그렇지 않은 가?

그러니까 저는 사실은 뭐를 알던

가장 중요하고 기본적인 것은 태도이지 않을까?

라는 생각을 하는 데요.

정치에 대해서도 마찬가지에요.

그렇다면 정치라고하는 것은

어떤 질문일까?

정치란 어떤 질문일까?

라고 생각을 해볼수 있지 않을까

오늘 제가 이 영상으로

하고 싶은 얘기를 한 마디만 하자면

여러분께 정치란 어떤 질문일까?

라는 얘기에요.

저한테 정치란

이 세상에 정말 수많은 사람들이

나와 다른 수많은 사람들이

살아가고 있는데 어떻게 이 사람들과 함께

서로 해치지 않으면서 살아갈 수 있을까?

라고 하는 것에 대한 대답입니다.

다시

저에게 정치란 저와 다른 무수한 사람들과

어떻게 함께 살아갈 수 있을까?

라고 하는 질문이고

그 질문에 답을 해나가는 과정이라고 생각합니다.

다양성, 공존

이런 이야기를 하면

어떤 분들은 굉장히

추상적인 얘기라고 받아 들이시기도 하더라고요.

근데 이건 전혀 추상적인 얘기가 아니고

예를 들면 이런 거에요.

어.. 나는 메갈리아가 정말 싫어

근데 그들이 존재하고 있다는 것을 부정할 수는 없어

공존해야지.

또 예를 들면

나는 기독교인이 정말 싫어.

근데 기독교인이 존재하고 있다는 것을 부정할 수는 없어.

그리고 그들을 다 몰살해 버릴 수는 없어.

그럼 어떻게 하면 이들하고 같이 살아갈 수가 있을까?

나는 개저씨가 정말 싫어.

하지만 개저씨가 세상에 정말 많다는건 알아.

그러면 이 아저씨들을 전부 쓸어버릴 수도 없고.

어떻게 우리가 공존하면 좋을까?

이런 굉장히

하하하하하

현실적인 질문에

답하는 과정이 저는

정치라고 생각을 하거든요.

즉, 싫지만 부정할수 없는 존재와

어떻게 공존해 나갈 수 있을까?

어떤 방법으로 공존해야

그나마 평화적으로 서로를 해치지 않으면서

살아갈 수 있을까?

라고 하는 것이 저는 정치라는 물음표이자

그 물음에 답해가는 과정이 저는 정치라고 생각합니다.

근데 어떤 분들은 "아. 없애버리면 되지"

라고 생각하실 수 있는데.

그건 굉장히 위험한 방식의 사고이구요.

뭐 인간의 본성은

다 쓸어버리고 싶은 마음을 가지는 거라고 생각하지만

우리가 그래도

그렇게 살 수는 없잖아요.

그죠?

날 실질적으로 위협하는 존재에 대해서

이야기 하는 게 아니라

내가 싫어 받아들일 수가 없어.

저 사람들이 나한테 와서 찔러죽이겠다고

해코지를 하는 건 아니지만

저들의 존재 자체가 너무 싫어.

라는 이유로 그들을

해하거나,

이 세상에서, 이 지구상에서

추방시켜버릴 수 있다고 생각을 한다면

그들도 그렇게 똑같이 생각을 할 거거든요.

누군가 나의 존재를

나의 존재의 특성을 마음에 들어하지 않는 사람들

역시 그렇게 생각할 수 있을 것이고.

그건 뭐 굉장히 위험한 세계로 가는 지름길이라고 봅니다.

우리가 부당하게 제거당하지 않기 위해서

우리는 남을 부당하게 제거해서는 안 돼요.

뭐 그런 얘기라는 거죠.

어떻게 보면 정치라고 하는 것은 역사에 관한

질문일 수도 있어요.

그니까 우리가

지구상에 태어난 최초의 인간 1호가 아닌 이상

우리 이전에 살았던 여러인간.

지금 동시대를 살아가는 여러 인간.

또 앞으로 살아갈 여러 인간들 속에서

이 수많은 인간들은 분명 우리와 같은 이 질문.

싫지만 함께 살아가야 하는 자들과

어떤 사회를 만들어서 살 것인가.

구체적으로

어떤 제도를 그리고 어떤 문화를 가지고 살 것인가.

근데 이런 부분들에 대해서

끊임없이 고민하고 또 보완하고, 실행하고

시행착오를 겪고 이렇게 살았을 때

그 수많은 사람들은 어떻게 했을까?

를 보는 일이고

지금의 우리 사회는 또 어떻게 하고 있는가?

를 보는 일이고.

나는 그게 마음에 드나?

를 생각해 보는 일이고.

나는 나와 다른 사람들을 어디까지 배제하고

또 어디까지 포용할 것 인가?

실제로 배제하거나 포용할 힘이

내가 주권자라는데 나한테 있나?

그리고 만약에 정말 그런 힘이 있다면

난 정말 그들을 배제할 것인가?

혹은 포용할 것인가?

이런 질문들에 대한 답일 수도 있죠.

제가 자꾸 정치를 열린 질문으로 만들어서

이렇게 여러분께 말씀드리는 이유는

그렇게 해야 어떤 특정한 제도나

혹은 특정한 인물을

해결사인 것처럼 절대화 하지 않을 수 있다고

생각하기 때문입니다.

다시 이야기 할게요.

정치를 열린 질문이라고 생각해야

특정한 체제나 혹은 특정한 인물을

절대적인 해결책이라고 생각하지 않을 가능성이

높기 때문입니다.

이를테면 그런 것 있잖아요.

"우리는 민주주의 국가니까 됐지, 뭐."

혹은 "이번 선거에서 ㅇㅇ후보가 당선이 안되면

우리나라는 망할거야." 라던가.

이런 사고는 사실 저는 정치적 무관심과 다르지 않다.

정치는 굉장히 긴 질문이기 때문에

단순히 우리 헌법에 민주국가라고 명시되어 있다고 해서

모든 사람들의 삶이 민주적이고 행복해지는 것도 아니고.

굉장히 사람좋아 보이는

굉장히 훌륭해보이는 어떤 카리스마 있는 정치 지도자를

우리가 선출했다고 해서

그 사람이 우리가 일상에서 가지고 있는 모든 문제를

해결할 수 있는 것도 아니에요.

우리 세상 진짜 문제 많잖아요.

크게보면 뭐 기후변화부터 시작해서

뭐 이 지구 자체는 핵전쟁의 위험에 항상 노출되어 있고.

우리나라로 치자면은 아직 북한하고 전쟁 중 이잖아요.

전쟁이 끝난 게 아니라 휴전 중인 거고.

그리고 또 우리의 일상을 보자하면

오늘도 페이스북과 유튜브와 트위터 등등에서

누군가와 댓글로 엄청나게 전쟁을 하고 있을지도 몰라요.

저는 그렇죠. 하하

이런 수많은 갈등과 함께 살아나가기 위해서

해결해야 되는 어떤 국면들이 있는데

이 모든 것을 단순히 선거로.

혹은 어떤 제도로.

물론 선거나 제도는 굉장히 중요하지만

그건 이 긴 질문을 대답해나가는

어떤 하나하나의 과정들이라는 것.

잊으면

거기서 극단주의가 탄생하고

거기서 "이거 아니면 안돼."라는 절박함과

그 절박함으로 인한 극단주의가 발생하는 거다.

라고 저는 생각해요.

그래서 지금까지는 정치에 관심이 없었지만

지금부터라도 정치에 관심을 가지시는 분들께

제가 간곡히 드리고 싶은 말씀은

정치라고 하는 것은

인생을

우리 사회를

인간의 역사를 관통하는

긴 질문이다.

다양성과 공존에 관한 긴 질문이다.

라는 문장을 한 번 가만히 생각해보시고

받아들여보시면 좋겠다.

라는 얘기입니다.

뭔가 진짜로 정당이 어떻고 어느 후보가 어떻고

이런 얘기를 할거라고 기대하셨던 분들께는

조금 죄송하지만

오늘 첫 영상은 이런 내용으로 마무리를 하고 싶어요.

차차 그런 정말 우리가 당면한 어떤 문제들에 대해서도

이야기를 할 수 있지 않을까
