Il lupo e l’airone

Un lupo aveva ingoiato un osso e stava per soffocare quando s’imbattè in un airone al quale chiese di estrargli l’osso in cambio di una grossa soma di denaro. A wolf had swallowed a bone and was about to suffocate when he came across a heron whom he asked to extract the bone in exchange for a large pack of money. Quando l’airone tirò fuori l’osso e poi reclamò il compenso pattuito , il lupo ringhiando ferocemente gli disse: "Caro mio,  tu sei stato debitamente ricompensato quando ho permesso che la tua testa uscisse incolume dalla mia bocca. When the heron pulled out the bone and then claimed the agreed compensation , the wolf snarled fiercely at him and said, "My dear, you were duly rewarded when I allowed your head to come out of my mouth unharmed. Come osi chiedere un compenso?”

La favola mostra che il più gran compenso che si possa ottenere dai servizi resi a un malvagio è quello di non essere ricambiato con un sopruso. The fable shows that the greatest compensation that can be obtained from the services rendered to an evil one is that of not being reciprocated with an abuse.

Morale:  Non aspettarti ricompense per i favori fatti a un malvagio, anzi, ritieniti fortunato se lo stesso non ti ricambia con un sopruso. Moral: Don't expect rewards for favors done to a villain, on the contrary, consider yourself lucky if the same does not reciprocate you with an abuse.
