Lindsay:

Find an opportunity to give back to someone who needs help. 尋找機會回饋需要幫助的人。

Gabby:

Yeah.

Lindsay:

Right.

Gabby:

The key here is to find a volunteer opportunity where you're working with people or a person. 這裡的關鍵是找到一個與人或人一起工作的志工機會。 So if you're living in the United States, (um) there are several different organizations that you could contact and find out how to be an individual volunteer or maybe if you have a friend or a co-worker who would be interested in volunteering with you. Lindsay:

Excellent.

Lindsay: Yeah.

Lindsay:

And (uh), it's in the South End and they have dinner for different (um) groups of, of, of homeless people and you can go and help cook the food and serve it. 而且（呃），它在南端，他們為不同的（嗯）無家可歸者群體提供晚餐，你可以去幫忙做飯並提供食物。

It's something that often people might even put on a resume if they've done a significant amount of volunteer work. Absolutely.

Well, and to build your resume. 好吧，並建立你的履歷。

Gabby:

Gabby:

Absolutely.

Yeah.

So I spent some time in, in Guatemala (uh) back in 2008 and I was teaching English in a, in a, in a school (um) for some, (you know), kind of a low-income community. 2008 年，我在瓜地馬拉（呃）待了一段時間，在一所學校（嗯）為一些（你知道的）低收入社區教英文。 (Um) and (you know) teaching English and helping with the kids, helping around the school and that sort of thing and I was also learning Spanish at the same time, right? （嗯）（你知道）教英語，幫助孩子們，幫助學校周圍的事情等等，我同時也在學習西班牙語，對嗎？

Lindsay: Yeah.

Gabby:

Cool.

Lindsay:

Yeah, (you know), I think that's such a good point that, (you know), you were just giving and your purpose as a volunteer was to give so you, you have a reason for being in that situation, you have a clear purpose and that just means a lot, that gives you direction… Lindsay: Ouais, (vous savez), je pense que c'est un si bon point que, (vous savez), vous donniez juste et votre but en tant que bénévole était de donner donc vous, vous avez une raison d'être dans cette situation, vous avez une objectif clair et cela signifie simplement beaucoup, cela vous donne une direction… Lindsay : 是的，（你知道），我認為這是一個很好的觀點，（你知道），你只是在給予，而你作為志工的目的就是給予，所以你，你有一個處於這種情況的理由，你有一個明確的目標，這意味著很多，它給你方向… Lindsay：

And it also gives you some perspective, (like) it's not all about you, (you know). 它還為您提供了一些視角，（例如）這並不全是關於您的，（您知道）。 You realize like it's very easy when you're in your house and studying with your grammar book, you can think ‘The world's coming to an end because I can't pronounce this word correctly and it's all about me.” (Like) I even have a tendency to think the world is about me.
