NOVA LECTIO: il paradosso del debito NON ESISTE

Ok, facciamolo. Sono sicuro che il video di Nova Lectio riguardo il paradosso del debito

sia stato fatto con tutte le buone intenzioni di questo mondo, senza la volontà di creare

disinformazione. Ma visto che siamo su internet, specifico che questo video non è assolutamente

un video di dissing e anzi rispetto il lavoro di Simone, che sicuramente fa degli ottimi

contenuti. Detto ciò, questo video è semplicemente un video di fact-checking riguardo un tema

abbastanza delicato a livello economico e molto spesso frainteso. Ma i motivi del mio

video lasciamoli pure in chiusura del video, perché c'è tanta carne sul fuoco e ovviamente

noi non vogliamo che si bruci. La storia della moneta è estremamente interessante, perché

essenzialmente è fatta di esseri umani. Non c'è cosa più umana della moneta. Perché

durante tutto l'arco della storia ha rappresentato società, idee politiche, ha fatto scoprire

nuovi continenti, è stata anche un'arma di guerra oppure ancora una rappresentazione

religiosa. Il video di Nova Lectio inizia affermando che la moneta è la naturale prosecuzione

del baratto. In realtà questo è un grande luogo comune della moneta, in quanto la storia

della moneta non è affatto così lineare quanto sembra. Ad esempio, vi ricordate all'elementari

il Tigre e le Eufrate? Ebbene, nel 3000 a.C. in Mesopotamia esistevano le tavolette mesopotamiche.

Sono sicuro che questa parola vi dice qualcosa. Ecco, queste tavolette venivano usate per

tenere i conti di debiti, crediti, titoli di proprietà oppure ancora il pagamento delle

tasse. Insomma, un metodo di contabilità che è molto simile a quello utilizzato attualmente.

Invece, se ci spostiamo ad ovest e aspettiamo altri 2000 anni… vabbè, ve lo spoilerò

io, praticamente i greci utilizzavano le monete greche per commerciare tra di loro. Invece

gli stessi greci utilizzavano il baratto per commerciare con popolazioni straniere, in

quanto non avrebbero mai accettato come sistema di pagamento una moneta proveniente da uno

stato che non riconoscevano. Oppure ancora ci sono state occasioni durante la storia

della moneta in cui le monete metalliche vennero abbandonate nei confronti delle monete merci,

come ad esempio il tabacco o le conchiglie in America nelle colonie inglesi nel 1600.

Questa idea evoluzionistica della moneta come baratto, moneta e credito è un'idea sbagliata,

però purtroppo dura a morire. I primi a teorizzare questa idea furono i neoclassici,

il primo tra tutti Adam Smith, cioè quella che il mercato si accorse naturalmente che era più

comodo commerciare con la moneta rispetto che a barattare. In realtà le cose sono molto più

articolate di così. Inoltre, Nova Lectio ritiene che le banconote oppure le monete metalliche

siano qualcosa del passato sostituite dal sistema bancario ora, oppure dalla finanza

decentralizzata in futuro. Ora, innanzitutto direi che è tutto da vedere se in futuro avverrà la

finanza decentralizzata, ma andiamo avanti. Inoltre, pensare che il cash si è superato

è una semplificazione. Nel video viene riportato che il 3% di tutta la moneta esistente nel mondo

è costituito da monete e banconote. In realtà questo dato proviene dalla sola Inghilterra e

non da tutto il mondo. Mentre per quanto riguarda l'Europa, il numero di transazioni

effettuate in Europa nel 2019 è stato di 73% tramite cash. Se invece parliamo di valore,

quindi non il numero ma l'importo, il 48% del denaro è stato spostato in Europa tramite cash.

Il cash è il sistema di pagamento più diffuso in Europa, ma le transazioni sono di piccola entità,

come è normale aspettarsi. Inoltre, i dati proposti da Nova Lectio sono purtroppo drogati

dalle politiche monetarie espansive che sono state fatte negli ultimi 10 anni e che anche

lo stesso Simone tratta successivamente nel video. Ad esempio, guardate questo grafico della

diffusione della base monetaria in Europa. Possiamo vedere che dal 2008 la moneta contante

si è rimasta al palo rispetto alle altre forme di moneta. Dopo che Nova Lectio ha presentato i

vari tipi di moneta, anche se si potrebbe essere più precisi andando a parlare di aggregati monetari,

ma ve la risparmio, prendiamola per buona, nel video viene presentato il caso di Asdrubale,

che chiede alla sua banca commerciale di prestargli 100.000 euro per poter comprare

i suoi pick up Toyota. Nel video viene testualmente detto, Asdrubale ha come

per magia i suoi 100.000 euro sul conto. In meno di 5 minuti la banca ha creato così del

denaro ex novo. Denaro che quella mattina, prima che Asdrubale varcasse la porta,

della banca non esisteva. Quindi sostenendo che la banca può creare moneta a suo piacimento.

Il problema del suo ragionamento è che si ferma troppo presto. Infatti i depositi bancari vengono

definiti più precisamente la moneta interna. Vediamo cosa ci dice la BCA in merito.

La moneta interna è così denominata perché ha come contropartita il credito privato. Se tutti

i crediti detenuti dalle banche verso il settore privato fossero estinti, la moneta interna creata

sarebbe annullata. Quindi è una forma di moneta che viene creata e può essere annullata nel

settore privato dell'economia. Ok so che può essere una definizione un po' contorta,

quindi rendiamo il tutto più masticabile. Ritorniamo al caso di Asdrubale. Quando decide

di spendere i suoi 100.000 euro creati dalla banca per comprare i suoi pick up Toyota,

essenzialmente il deposito scompare, estinguendo anche la moneta interna creata dalla banca

privata. Quindi essenzialmente la magia dura ben poco. Ma i soldi devono pure arrivare alla

Toyota e quindi cosa succede al momento della transazione? Succede che la banca di Asdrubale

prende una parte delle sue riserve, quindi soldi già esistenti, e le trasferisce alla Toyota,

sperando che il suo ammanco verrà ripagato da Asdrubale negli anni. Quindi è un gioco a somma

zero. Il deposito creato dalla banca viene compensato dalla diminuzione del capitale

della banca stessa. Affinché la banca privata possa effettivamente creare nuova moneta,

deve avere una maggiore disponibilità di riserve nel proprio capitale. E chi può dare queste

riserve? Proprio la banca centrale, che o diminuendo i tassi di interesse oppure concedendo

nuove riserve alla banca commerciale può permettere a quest'ultima di creare nuova

moneta all'interno dell'economia. Non a caso nell'infografica della BCE il processo di creazione

della moneta non parte dalle banche commerciali ma proprio dalla politica monetaria della BCE.

Continuando, nel video viene detto che il 97% del denaro che circola nell'economia è fatto

da debito perché il 97% delle monete è costituito da depositi bancari. Ora di nuovo questi dati sono

inglesi e riprendendo le stesse fonti si vede che in realtà i depositi bancari non sono il 97%

bensì il 79%. Detto ciò, e qui forse vi stupirò, è meglio dire che il 100% del denaro in circolazione

è debito, in quanto le banconote emesse dalla BCE sono per lei stessa una passività,

quindi tutto il denaro è debito. Ma questo è normalissimo, molto spesso quando si instaurano

questi discorsi si vuole pungolare l'idea che la nostra società sia fondata sul debito e quindi

insostenibile. Ma in realtà non dobbiamo impanicarci, in quanto in economia vige il

principio fondamentale della partita doppia e quindi ad ogni debito esiste un corrispettivo,

un credito, una ricchezza e non può essere altrimenti. Inoltre, come abbiamo visto anche

all'inizio del video, debito e credito non sono invenzioni moderne che sono state fatte per

soggiogare la popolazione ai più potenti. In realtà sono dei sistemi di contabilità che venivano

usati addirittura nel 3000 a.C. e se ci hanno portati dalle tavolette mesopotamiche ai pc,

beh, direi che hanno funzionato anche abbastanza bene. E qui probabilmente arriviamo al punto più

critico del video, quando viene raccontato che la quantità di denaro nell'economia dipende dall'umore

dei banchieri e quindi il mio benessere e la mia sicurezza economica dipendono dalla volontà del

banchiere, lasciando spazio a teorie poco convenzionali e abbastanza maligne nei

confronti del sistema finanziario. E non c'è messaggio più sbagliato che questo, innanzitutto

lo dicono le sue fonti stesse. Can banks create as much money as they like? No, they can't. La

banca d'Inghilterra è abbastanza perentoria su questo. Come abbiamo visto, infatti, è la banca

centrale che influenza la circolazione della moneta all'interno dell'economia tramite la

sua politica monetaria. Ora qui mi potreste dire, ma quanto efficace è la sua politica per

determinare... vogliamo bassi, non ci addentriamo in questi discorsi. Continuiamo. Inoltre le banche

hanno una serie di regole da dover rispettare quando vanno a derogare un credito. Fin dal

1300, quando sostanzialmente la banca fu creata in Italia, uno dei motivi principali per cui le

banche fallivano era proprio perché il banchiere concedeva credito a cazzo di cane. Ma senza fare

excursus storici, su cui sono molto convinto che Simone potrebbe battermi tranquillamente,

mettiamola sul semplice con un ragionamento per assurdo. Se effettivamente le banche private hanno

questo potere di creare moneta, ma allora perché falliscono? Perché nel 2008 Lehman Brothers è

fallita se poteva semplicemente creare denaro per se stessa e risanare i propri conti? Perché alla

fine tutto il discorso ricade sempre lì, e cioè sulla contabilità e sul rispetto del principio

della partita doppia. Se esiste un'attività devo necessariamente creare anche una passività per

bilanciare i conti. Non può esistere solo un'attività e non può esistere solo una passività,

un debito. Altrimenti è come scoprire il moto perpetuo in fisica oppure il motore immobile

di Aristotele in filosofia. Successivamente Nova Lectio inizia a parlare del mercato immobiliare,

di quanto sia fruttuoso per le banche, probabilmente dimenticandosi la crisi finanziera

del 2008 e poi fa degli esempi non poco problematici. Detto ciò continuo a parlare anche del signoraggio,

che qui bisognerebbe dire qualcosa, oppure ancora dell'abbandono della convertibilità aurea. Mi

limito a dire che quello abbandono non fu di certo il primo. Ad esempio in Italia nel 1866 avvenne

il cosiddetto corso forzoso, ne abbiamo anche parlato in una vecchia puntata di Whatsapp Economy,

quando in Italia le lire non potevano più essere convertite in oro. Ma ehi, andiamo avanti,

altrimenti questo video diventa lunghissimo. E arriviamo finalmente al vero paradosso del video

di Nova Lexio, quando al minuto 15 si parla del fatto che se io deposito 10.000 euro in banca,

allora quei 10.000 euro non sono più miei. In realtà lo Stato sa benissimo che tu hai un

patrimonio di 10.000 euro in banca e probabilmente te lo tasserà anche. Il vero motivo per cui la

banca può usare i tuoi soldi è perché il denaro è un bene fungibile. Sono sicuro che avete sentito

parlare ultimamente degli NFT. Ecco, il denaro è la cosa completamente opposta.

E poi si inizia a parlare del QE. Di nuovo, non voglio soffermarmi più di tanto,

altrimenti diventerò noiosissimo. Ma anche qui, pensare che la BCE stampa moneta semplicemente

digitando un tasto è un concetto fuorbiante. Perché la BCE stampa moneta in realtà acquistando

asset finanziari? Infatti solo in questo modo viene rispettato il nostro principio di bilanciamento

del credito e del debito. In questo modo possono aumentare anche le riserve da parte delle banche

private che potranno anche aumentare di conseguenza i depositi bancari e quindi la

moneta in circolazione all'interno dell'economia. Spero vi abbia chiuso il cerchio riguardo questo

tema di erogazione del credito in quanto Nova Alexio l'aveva lasciato aperto a teorie

cospirazioniste. Al minuto di Genove 30 invece si teorizza una correlazione completamente sbagliata.

Infatti si afferma che le banche centrali acquistano le proprietà delle aziende quando

più sono convenienti. In realtà le banche centrali non acquistano asset finanziari perché è una buona

occasione di investimento, perché costano poco, ma perché secondo loro l'economia necessita di uno

stimolo di politica monetaria e quindi creano moneta comprando asset finanziari come abbiamo

visto subito prima. Il fenomeno descritto quindi è una conseguenza dell'attività della banca

centrale che appunto si attiva soprattutto con operazioni cosiddette non convenzionali e non

una volontà della banca centrale di interferire nell'economia tramite delle operazioni non

concorrenziali. Anche perché se ci pensiamo bene a livello finanziario cosa cazzo se ne fa una banca

centrale di un'impresa? Il video si conclude con una domanda provocatoria e un'idea per cui senza

banche non ci sarebbe più debito e quindi ci sarebbe anche un maggior benessere sociale. Entrambe

idee che ho cercato di smontare non solo in questo video ma anche in altri video che vi consiglio di

andare a recuperare proprio qui su questo canale. Arriviamo alla fine alle mie considerazioni

personali riguardo a tutta la faccenda e come vi ho detto e specificato non c'è alcuna volontà

di fare dissing oppure pretesa di fare la morale a qualcuno. Vi butto solo un po' di mie idee a

riguardo. Lo sapete più volte ho ammesso che non mi sento assolutamente il paladino dell'economia e

non ho nessuna pretesa di cambiare il mondo, svelare la verità economica ai più. Ma se c'è

qualcosa che non farei quella è sicuramente informarmi su dei temi economici di tale entità

in una community di criptovalute. E questo lo dico nonostante io abbia già sponsorizzato un'app di

trading di criptovalute. Nonostante questo io ho espresso più volte la mia distanza nei

confronti di quella community fatta molte volte da anarchici, rivoluzionari o fanatici e quindi

molte volte persone poco inclini ad approcciarsi in maniera critica verso i temi economici. Tra

l'altro investire esclusivamente in criptovalute è segno di una bassa educazione finanziaria.

Inoltre non credo nel fact checking che è proprio quello che ho fatto io in questo video perché

questo lavoro è un lavoro lungo, faticoso e che richiede anche una certa attenzione e buona

volontà da parte vostra nel cercare di sradicare delle idee semplici, impattanti ma spesso sbagliate.

Tutto il contrario delle fake news che sono facili da creare, posso crearne quante ne voglio e hanno

molto spesso un messaggio veloce, immediato e impattante. Insomma esercizi di fat checking

proprio come questo video credo che abbiano un impatto estremamente marginale nello smuovere

le idee riguardo questi temi. Senza considerare il fatto che ovviamente non mi aspetto di fare

100.000 visualizzazioni in quattro giorni proprio come ha fatto Novalexio e anche se le dovessi fare

visualizzazioni sicuramente non riuscirei a convincere neanche la metà del mio pubblico raggiunto.

Ma allora Giorgio perché hai fatto questo video? Beh oltre a avermelo chiesto a alcuni di voi,

penso sia una buona occasione per comunicare qualcosa che mi sta particolarmente a cuore.

Infatti secondo me l'errore più grande di Novalexio non sono stati tutti quei concetti

espressi nel video, in realtà l'errore più grande è stato un ragionamento che anche ha

ammesso lui stesso di aver fatto. E cioè sono un caprone in economia ma ho una community così

grande e cerchiamo di sfruttarla al meglio. Io non metto in dubbio le buone volontà di Simone,

il punto è che l'intero video oltre a tutto quello che vi ho detto ha dei problemi strutturali e non

perché Simone sia ignorante, attenzione, o estremo rispetto nella sua attività, però da come lui

stesso ha ammesso si vedono le lacune che non gli permettono di scrivere un discorso lineare e

preciso da un punto di vista economico. Come diceva qualcuno, da grandi poteri derivano

grandi responsabilità e secondo me una grande responsabilità che abbiamo noi è quella di non

proporre alla nostra community dei temi che non si masticano abbastanza. Io questo sforzo lo faccio

quotidianamente, l'ultimo caso è quello della Super League, e mi costa un sacco, mi costa in

termini di visualizzazioni, di visibilità, di collaborazioni con le aziende e in ultimo

anche di soldi, però non mi pesa. Oltre al fatto che ho i miei sostenitori, i miei abbonati che mi

supportano da un punto di vista economico, penso proprio che sia importante rispettare questo

principio per la creazione di un internet, se vogliamo metterla così, più sana, un internet

migliore. Per ultimo, Novalexio ha iniziato il suo video parlando di educazione finanziaria e di

quanto l'Italia si è indietro riguardo questi temi, e io sono assolutamente d'accordo, voi

sapete benissimo quante volte ho insistito su questo problema. Detto ciò, il problema è che

con quel video di Novalexio più di 100.000 persone sono state disinformate su un tema delicato che

aveva come risposta il principio della partita doppia, un principio base non solo di educazione

finanziaria ma anche di contabilità, insomma un concetto economico abbastanza base, e cioè che se

ci sono uscite ci devono essere anche necessariamente delle entrate, e questo vale sia

per la famiglia che per le banche commerciali che per le banche centrali europee o non. Detto ciò,
