مرحبًا جميعًا وأهلًا بكم إلى الدّرس الثّاني من "تعبير بالعربي".
Hello everyone, and welcome to the second lesson of "Expression in Arabic".
تعلّمنا في ما مضى بعضَ العبارات الّتي تعبّر عن حصول الأحداث في الماضي القريب والبعيد
In the past, we learned some expressions that express the occurrence of events in the recent and distant past

أمّا اليوم فسنتحدّث عن حالة التّعب
Today we will talk about fatigue
وإليكم العباراتِ السّتّةَ التّاليةَ:
Here are the following six phrases:
1) عانى النّصب، أو عانى من النّصب
1) He suffered from fraud, or suffered from fraud
"النّصب" هو التّعب والعناء
"Monument" is fatigue and toil
وتعني هذه العبارة تألّم بسبب الجَهد
This phrase means to suffer because of effort
مثلًا:
for example:
ظلّ المحاربون يعانون من النّصب بعد عودتهم من القتال.
Warriors continued to suffer from slander after returning from combat.
2) خارت قواهُ
2) He lost his strength
يعني الفعل "خارَ" "ضعُف جسديًّا ومرض"
The verb "khara" means "physical weakness and sickness."
مثلًا:
كان جدّي يتمتع بصحّة جيّدة إلى أن خارت قواه وتعذّر عليه العملُ.
My grandfather was in good health until his strength failed and he could no longer work.
3) كلّ فلانٌ
3) Every so-and-so
مثلًا: كَلَّ التّلاميذ بسبب الدّروس الكثيرة.
For example: all the students because of the many lessons.
4) أعياه الأمر
4) Make it up to him
يعني الفعل "أعيا" تعب جدًّا
The verb "aaa" means very tired
مثلًا: فقد المعلّم وعيه في الصّفّ بسبب الحرّ الشّديد الّذي أعياه.
For example: the teacher lost consciousness in class because of the extreme heat that made him sick.
5) تنفّس الصُّعَداءَ
5) Breathe a sigh of relief
"الصُّعَداءُ" مفردها "الصَّعَدُ"
The singular “as-sa’da” is “the ascension”
وهي المشقّة والعناء والتّعب
It is hardship, toil and fatigue
وتعني هذه العبارة تنهّدَ وأطلق زفيرًا طويلًا بسبب الوجع والحزن
This phrase means to sigh and let out a long exhalation because of the pain and sadness
مثلًا: كان المريض في فراشه يتنفّس الصّعداءَ.
For example: the patient was in his bed breathing a sigh of relief.
6) تهاوى فلان
6) So-and-so collapsed
يعني الفعل "تهاوى" سقط
The verb "to fall" means to fall
ويصلح لكلا الأفراد والأشياء
It works for both people and things
مثلًا: تهاوى أبي على الكرسيّ لدى رجوعه إلى البيت بعد يوم شاقّ في العمل.
For example: My father collapsed in his chair when he came home after a hard day at work.
لنراجعْ عباراتنا لليوم: "عانى النّصب" أو "عانى من النّصب، "خارت قواهُ"، "كَلّ"، "أعياه الأمر"، "تنفّس الصّعداء"، و "تهاوى".
Let's review our phrases for today: “suffered from the accursed” or “suffered from the accursed,” “failed,” “eat,” “suffered,” “breathed a sigh of relief,” and “fell apart.”
