L'aspetto dell'isola, quando io salii sul ponte l'indomani mattina, era completamente cambiato.

Quantunque la brezza fosse del tutto caduta, avevamo fatto un bel tratto di cammino durante la notte, e eravamo ora imprigionati dalla bonaccia a circa mezzo miglio a sud-est della piatta costa orientale.
