Actually vs At the moment - English In A Minute - YouTube

Hi everybody. I'm James

and welcome back to this week's English In A Minute.

This week we're going to look at the differences

between 'actually' and 'at the moment'.

These two phrases are often confused, so

let's take a look at an example:

At the moment, I'm making this programme, but

actually, I should be in a meeting.

So this sentence shows both phrases

but they're actually quite different. Let's break it down.

At the moment, I'm making this programme.

As you can see, I'm making this programme right now,

so 'at the moment' means 'now', or 'in the present'.

But actually I should be in a meeting.

Now, in this part of my sentence,

'actually' isn't talking about time at all.

'Actually' means 'in fact' or 'in reality'.

So, if you want to talk about 'now', say 'at the moment'.

But if you want to say 'in reality' say 'actually'.

At the moment I want to go and make a coffee,

but actually I think I'll go back to my desk.

Bye!

Hi everybody. I'm James Hallo zusammen. Ich bin James

and welcome back to this week's English In A Minute. und willkommen zurück zu English In A Minute dieser Woche.

This week we're going to look at the differences Diese Woche schauen wir uns die Unterschiede an W tym tygodniu przyjrzymy się różnicom

between 'actually' and 'at the moment'. zwischen „eigentlich“ und „im Moment“. '실제로'와 '현재'의 차이입니다. między "faktycznie" a "w tej chwili".

These two phrases are often confused, so Diese beiden Sätze werden oft verwechselt, also Te dwa wyrażenia są często mylone, więc

let's take a look at an example: Schauen wir uns ein Beispiel an:

At the moment, I'm making this programme, but Im Moment mache ich dieses Programm, aber

actually, I should be in a meeting. Eigentlich sollte ich in einem Meeting sein. 사실 회의에 참석해야 하는데요. Właściwie to powinienem być na spotkaniu.

So this sentence shows both phrases Dieser Satz zeigt also beide Phrasen Tak więc to zdanie pokazuje obie frazy

but they're actually quite different. Let's break it down. aber sie sind eigentlich ganz anders. Lass es uns aufschlüsseln. ale w rzeczywistości są one zupełnie inne. Rozłóżmy to na czynniki pierwsze.

At the moment, I'm making this programme. Im Moment mache ich dieses Programm.

As you can see, I'm making this programme right now, Wie Sie sehen können, mache ich gerade dieses Programm,

so 'at the moment' means 'now', or 'in the present'. „im Moment“ bedeutet also „jetzt“ oder „in der Gegenwart“.

But actually I should be in a meeting. Aber eigentlich sollte ich in einem Meeting sein.

Now, in this part of my sentence, Nun, in diesem Teil meines Satzes,

'actually' isn't talking about time at all. „eigentlich“ spricht überhaupt nicht von Zeit. "Właściwie" w ogóle nie mówi o czasie.

'Actually' means 'in fact' or 'in reality'. „Tatsächlich“ bedeutet „tatsächlich“ oder „in Wirklichkeit“. '실제로'는 '실제로' 또는 '실제로'라는 뜻입니다. "Actually" oznacza "w rzeczywistości" lub "w rzeczywistości".

So, if you want to talk about 'now', say 'at the moment'. Wenn Sie also von „jetzt“ sprechen wollen, sagen Sie „im Moment“. Tak więc, jeśli chcesz mówić o "teraz", powiedz "w tej chwili".

But if you want to say 'in reality' say 'actually'. Aber wenn Sie „in Wirklichkeit“ sagen wollen, sagen Sie „eigentlich“. But if you want to say 'in reality' say 'actually'. Ale jeśli chcesz powiedzieć "w rzeczywistości", powiedz "faktycznie".

At the moment I want to go and make a coffee, Im Moment möchte ich gehen und einen Kaffee machen, At the moment I want to go and make a coffee, W tej chwili chcę iść i zrobić kawę,

but actually I think I'll go back to my desk. aber eigentlich denke ich, ich gehe zurück an meinen Schreibtisch. but actually I think I'll go back to my desk. ale chyba wrócę do biurka.

Bye! Wiedersehen! Bye!
