Gospel of Luke, Luc 21

Luc 21

19 In patientia vestra possidebitis animas vestras.

1 And looking around, he saw those rich who cast their gifts into the treasury. 2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in two mites. 4 For all these sent out of their abundance as gifts to God: but this one, out of what he lacked, sent all his sustenance that he had.

5 And to some who said of the temple that it was adorned with good stones and gifts, he said: 6 These things you see, the days will come when not one stone will be left upon another that will not be destroyed. And they questioned him, saying: Teacher, when will these things be, and when will the sign begin to take place? 8 Qui dixit : Videte ne seducamini : multi enim venient in nomine meo, dicentes quia ego sum : et tempus appropinquavit : nolite ergo ire post eos. 8 Who said: Take heed that you be not seduced: for many shall come in my name, saying that I am: and the time is at hand: therefore go not after them. 9 And when you shall hear of wars and seditions, be not terrified: these things must first come to pass, but the end is not yet immediately. 10 Tunc dicebat illis : Surget gens contra gentem, et regnum adversus regnum. 10 Then he said to them: Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 And there will be great earthquakes throughout the land, and pestilences, and famines, and terrors from heaven, and there will be great signs.

12 But before all this, they will lay their hands on you, and will persecute you, delivering you into the synagogues and prisons, leading you to kings and governors for my name's sake: 13 but it will happen to you for a testimony. 14 Put it therefore in your hearts not to premeditate how you will answer: 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries will not be able to resist and contradict. 16 But be betrayed by parents, and brothers, and relatives, and friends, and death will affect you. 19 In patientia vestra possidebitis animas vestras. In your patience you shall possess your souls.

20 But when you see Jerusalem being surrounded by an army, then know that its desolation is at hand. 21 Then those in Judea, let them flee to the mountains, and let those in the middle of it depart; that all things that were written may be fulfilled. 23 Væ autem prægnantibus et nutrientibus in illis diebus ! 23 But woe to those who conceive and nurse in those days! erit enim pressura magna super terram, et ira populo huic. for there will be great distress on the earth and wrath on this people. 24 Et cadent in ore gladii, et captivi ducentur in omnes gentes, et Jerusalem calcabitur a gentibus, donec impleantur tempora nationum. 24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captives into all nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the nations, until the times of the nations are fulfilled.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and moon, and stars, and on earth the distress of the nations, for the confusion of the sound of the sea and of the waves. a man coming in a cloud with great power and glory.

28 His autem fieri incipientibus, respicite, et levate capita vestra : quoniam appropinquat redemptio vestra. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads: for your redemption is at hand. 29 And he told them a parable: Look at the sycamore tree and all the trees: 30 when they already bring forth fruit from themselves, you know that summer is near. 31 Ita et vos cum videritis hæc fieri, scitote quoniam prope est regnum Dei. 31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Amen dico vobis, quia non præteribit generatio hæc, donec omnia fiant. 32 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass away, until all things be done. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

34 But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be overcharged with drunkenness and drunkenness, and the cares of this life, and that day may come upon you suddenly. 36 Watch therefore, praying at all times, that you may be worthy to escape all these things that are to come, and to stand before the Son of man.

37 Erat autem diebus docens in templo : noctibus vero exiens, morabatur in monte qui vocatur Oliveti. 37 Now he was teaching in the temple during the day, but going out at night, he stayed on the mountain called Olivet. 38 And all the people flocked to him in the temple to hear him.
