1.3 Reading: Join the Curtis Online Forum

Forums

Curtis MOOCs have inspired a global online conversation about music. In course forums, learners have shared their questions, discoveries, and experiences, which prompts encouragement and ideas from audience members and performers alike.

Since Coursera's new platform does not (yet) include an environment for such rich dialogue, Curtis has set up a Google Group, called the Curtis Online Forum, to serve as a hub for global conversation about music. You can exchange posts with people who share a curiosity about repertoire, composers, and listening to and playing music.

The Curtis Online Forum is a “public” forum, and all that is required is either a Google Account or a Google email address (gmail.com). You can sign up for a Google Account here. It's free and easy to set up. As part of our online community, you will be able to post, reply, and read as part of the global conversation about music at the Curtis Online Forum.

Topic categories include:

About Music: Discuss the course and music (listening, playing, learning) in general. Mr. Biss Asks: Explore lecture material further with these questions from your instructor. Music Resources: Where do you go to listen, learn, and explore music? Share your favorites and discover new ones here. Social: Meet some of the interesting people who are participating in this online global conversation. What's your music background? Quizzes: Pose questions and comment about the review quizzes. Events: Find out about online and in-person events and post related questions and comments. Please Note:

As an online community, we represent many backgrounds, language skills, and music skills; these forums are a place to explore and discover music ideas and sounds together. Please be respectful of people and the ideas and opinions they express here. Posts with inappropriate language or solicitations will be removed. Google describes its Google Groups Content Policy on its help pages. Note in particular its copyright statement: "please don't provide links to sites where your readers can obtain unauthorized downloads of other people's content." The Curtis Online Forum will be moderated by Curtis Teaching Staff intermittently on Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET (time converter), as time allows.

We look forward to your participation!
