07. English Phrases: Can't Put a Book Down - Explanation and Examples.
Hello, this is Jack from tofluency.com, and in this lesson we're going to look at the phrase "can't put down" when we're talking about a book. So, in one of my videos I talked about the books you should read in English, and there was a clip in there when I used this phrase; so, let's take a look at that now... “The key is finding a book that you can understand, a book that isn't too difficult for you and your level right now, and also finding a book that is going to really interest you - a book that you just can't put down.” So, in that video I said this: “the key is finding a book that is going to really interest you a book that you just can't put down», and this means that you can't stop reading it. So when you have a book that you can't put down, it means you find it so interesting that you can't stop reading it and you want to continue reading it. So, let's just have a look at two more example sentences: “I can't put down this book it's so good.” “My friend is reading Harry Potter. He can't put it down.” Now, here is a joke using this phrase: “My friend is reading an anti-gravity book he can't put it down.” Hopefully, you find that funny too.
Now, here is my question for you based on this phrase: Have you read a book that you couldn't put down? Have you read a book that you couldn't put down? Leave your answers and the name of the book in the comment section below.
Thanks for watching and see you next time!
