English Convos with Camille (Interview with Melodie), PART 1.2 Melodie

PART 1.2 Melodie

Camille: What were some of your hobbies growing up? Did you play sports, or did you play an instrument, or what did you do, besides running around outside?

Melodie: Yeah, I played the flute for like really really short, but I wouldn't say that was a hobby. I really enjoyed reading, and I did do cheerleading and gymnastics in middle school and high school. Camille: That's cool. Melodie: I think I really enjoyed like dance and you know movement, and you know, I'm not so much competitive. Yeah, but I enjoyed like performance I guess.

Camille: Yeah, that's cool. Are you going to do a dance here today?

Melodie: Well, you never know, follow me on my Tiktok. Just kidding, I don't have a Tiktok.

Camille: I had Tiktok for one day.

Melodie: Did you?

Camille: Yeah and then I just was like, too much.

Melodie: It's fun to watch.

Camille: Yeah, I do get sent things sometimes, and I'll check them out, when my friends send me, usually funny language things on Tiktok.

Melodie: Oh, yeah. I like, you get pulled into the Tiktok realm and you can't get out. Camille: Wow, crazy. Melodie: Just watching, watching.

Camille: Yeah, yeah, so you mentioned that you went to college here in South Carolina, what did you study?

Melodie: Nursing, so, yeah, one of the things that happened in my childhood, that was kind of an impactful moment, which was one of the questions you were asking me, was my dad actually fell in the shower, and my whole household, lost it, like nobody knew what to do. And that was when I realized that I was cut out for nursing because I was the only one that was like, went into action. Like made sure my dad was ok, went and called 911, was on the phone and my sister was like literally running up and down the hall, like losing her mind, and my mom, I don't even know where she was. So, yeah, so I ended up studying nursing, but I think that was one of those pivotal moments where you're like, I could do this, yeah, like this is actually a gifting of mine, I can stay steady in a crisis, of… with blood.

Camille: Yeah, for sure, well I know it's come in handy in my life too, with my kids and bleeding, when Kairo fell at his birthday and you were there.

Melodie: Burning…

Camille: Burning, Ivory burned her foot, so many moments, so it's such a good skill to have, a life skill, yeah, to be able to help people, and you've always been super calm in the moment of chaos around, so that is amazing.

Melodie: It's a little harder when it's my kids, like I feel like it hurts a little deeper, and I kind of, I do go into that mode of taking care of them, but I think I am a little bit more like scared, or sad, it hurts me too. But so I get the mom thing, it's hard.

Camille: For sure. For sure.
