Merci de me rejoindre pour ce nouvel épisode du podcast de Français Authentique. Aujourd'hui, je vais t'expliquer le sens de l'expression « parler dans sa barbe », expression très intéressante et très utilisée par les francophones.

Avant de commencer, je tiens à te rappeler, premièrement, que les inscriptions à l'académie Français Authentique ouvrent. On m'interroge tous les jours sur le sujet puisque les inscriptions sont fermées 95% de l'année. La dernière séance d'inscription, c'était au mois de mai. Et là, c'est la dernière séance d'inscription de l'année 2021. Et tu peux, jusque dimanche, donc tu as une semaine, tu peux rejoindre l'académie.

Il y a un lien en bas pour que tu ailles jeter un œil, www.francaisauthentique.com/academie. Ça te présente le projet de l'académie. En gros, il y a deux gros blocs. Il y a un bloc de contenus avec je crois qu'on est à 70 modules maintenant, donc plus de 100 heures de vidéos. On a avec ça les MP3, les PDF. On a « SOS grammaire », qui est un projet encore une fois de contenus mais qui t'explique les points majeurs et principaux de la grammaire française de façon simplifiée. Donc, plein de contenus.

Et on a aussi, bien sûr, une partie communauté avec un groupe privé Telegram dans lequel tu peux parler avec nous tous les jours et où je poste plein d'infos quotidiennes. Tu as un groupe privé Facebook et des discussions Zoom avec nos tuteurs de l'académie. Donc, tu peux t'inscrire à des cours d'une heure avec nos tuteurs. En général, il y a 10 à 12 étudiants. Tu as accès à tout ça dans l'académie Français Authentique, le lien est en bas. Tu as une semaine pour t'inscrire.

Venons-en à notre expression du jour « parler dans sa barbe ». Et comme d'habitude, dans la description de l'épisode, tu as aussi la fiche PDF que tu peux télécharger gratuitement. Les mots qui composent cette expression, « parler dans les barbes », ont la signification suivante :

Le verbe « parler », ça veut dire communiquer. C'est s'exprimer, donner des informations par la parole, par la bouche. C'est ce que je fais en ce moment dans le podcast. Là, je suis en train de parler.

La préposition « dans », elle est utilisée pour dire « à l'intérieur de quelque chose ». Je suis actuellement « dans » un bureau, donc je suis à l'intérieur, dans. Et « la barbe », c'est la pilosité. Ce sont les poils que les hommes ont sur le visage. Là tu vois, je rentre de vacances, je n'ai pas si ça s'entend, mais là je suis en train de gratter ma joue, j'ai de la barbe. C'est des poils sur le visage. Bien souvent, c'est au niveau des joues, des lèvres supérieures, du menton etc. Ça, c'est ce qu'on appelle la barbe.

Le sens de l'expression est assez clair, assez facile à comprendre. L'explication est assez littérale. Imagine quelqu'un qui aurait une grosse barbe, donc plein de poils sur le visage, mais des poils très longs, autour de la bouche, sur les joues, eh bien le son pourrait difficilement sortir de sa bouche, il sera un peu étouffé en passant par la barbe et il serait donc moins clair.

Aujourd'hui, quand on dit que quelqu'un parle dans sa barbe, ça ne veut pas dire qu'il a une grosse barbe ou qu'il parle vraiment dans sa barbe, mais ça veut dire que la personne parle de façon peu audible. Soit elle parle à voix basse, soit elle parle en râlant un peu ou alors elle marmonne, elle n'articule pas correctement. On dit qu'elle parle dans sa barbe. Et ça indique à la personne qu'on n'arrive pas à l'entendre, à la comprendre.

Comme d'habitude, tu comprendras encore mieux si j'utilise des exemples. Le premier exemple, ce serait un étudiant qui dit : « Je suis complètement perdu en cours de philo ». La philo, c'est la philosophie. Et l'élève continue en se plaignant et en disant : « Le prof parle toujours dans sa barbe. C'est incompréhensible ». En disant ça, l'étudiant se plaint du fait que le prof n'articule pas, il ne parle pas clairement, il marmonne. Soit il parle très bas, soit il parle de façon non claire. « Tu vois, Il parle un peu comme ça, et on a du mal à le comprendre ». Là, je n'ai pas articulé. On pourrait dire que j'ai parlé dans ma barbe.

Un autre exemple, ce serait deux personnes qui discutent et à un moment, il y en a un qui dit à l'autre : « Qu'est-ce que tu dis ? Articule un peu. Arrête de parler dans ta barbe ». Eh bien cette personne demande à son interlocuteur de parler de façon plus claire, plus nette, d'articuler, de parler de façon plus audible et de ne pas marmonner. Donc, il lui demande tout simplement de ne pas « parler dans sa barbe ».

Dernier exemple, tu as une personne qui raconte une situation à laquelle il a participé et il dit : « Ces deux personnes étaient en train de se disputer quand l'un d'entre eux est parti en parlant dans sa barbe. Il avait l'air en colère ». Donc l'un des deux est parti, et plutôt que de s'exprimer clairement et de dire des choses à haute voix, il parlait en baissant la tête, à voix basse et sans articuler. On sentait qu'il était en colère, il ne s'exprimait pas clairement, il marmonnait. On dit qu'il parlait dans sa barbe.

Ce que je te propose, comme d'habitude, c'est de faire un petit exercice de prononciation dans lequel je vais prononcer une phrase que tu vas répéter à haute voix. Donc, je te laisse du blanc, du temps, pour le faire. Et tu peux bien sûr copier mon intonation, ma prononciation, pour être vraiment au plus proche de ce que je dis. Donc, tu ne te concentres pas sur ce que je dis hein. Il va y avoir un petit peu de conjugaison, mais le but c'est vraiment que tu pratiques ta prononciation. Je vais, tu vas voir, changer aussi le possessif en fonction du contexte pour t'enseigner un peu de grammaire en même temps que de la prononciation. Donc, on y va. Tu répètes après moi. C'est parti.
