Actus Apostolorum (Acts of the Apostles), Acts 03

Acts 03

5 At ille intendebat in eos, sperans se aliquid accepturum ab eis.

26 Vobis primum Deus suscitans filium suum, misit eum benedicentem vobis : ut convertat se unusquisque a nequitia sua.

Acts 03 Acts 03

3 1 Now Peter and John went up to the temple at the ninth hour of prayer. 2 And a certain man who was lame from his mother's womb was flattered: he was placed every day at the gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple. 3 When he saw Peter and John beginning to enter the temple, he asked to receive alms. 4 Peter and John, looking at him, said: Look at us. 5 At ille intendebat in eos, sperans se aliquid accepturum ab eis. 5 But he focused on them, hoping to receive something from them. 7 And taking hold of his right hand, he lifted him up, and immediately his bases and plants were consolidated. 8 And having fled, he stood, and walked: and he entered with them into the temple walking, and fleeing, and praising God. 9 Et vidit omnis populus eum ambulantem et laudantem Deum. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Cognoscebant autem illum, quod ipse erat qui ad eleemosynam sedebat ad Speciosam portam templi : et impleti sunt stupore et extasi in eo quod contigerat illi. 10 And they recognized him, because he was the one who sat for alms at the beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with astonishment and ecstasy at what had happened to him. 11 And when he was holding Peter and John, all the people ran to them at the portico which is called Solomon's, amazed.

12 Videns autem Petrus, respondit ad populum : Viri Israëlitæ, quid miramini in hoc, aut nos quid intuemini, quasi nostra virtute aut potestate fecerimus hunc ambulare ? 12 When Peter saw this, he answered the people: Men of Israel, why are you surprised at this, or why do you look at us, as if by our own power or power we made this man walk? 13 Deus Abraham, et Deus Isaac, et Deus Jacob, Deus patrum nostrorum glorificavit filium suum Jesum, quem vos quidem tradidistis, et negastis ante faciem Pilati, judicante illo dimitti. 13 The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers glorified his son Jesus, whom you indeed betrayed and denied before the face of Pilate. 14 Vos autem sanctum et justum negastis, et petistis virum homicidam donari vobis : 15 auctorem vero vitæ interfecistis, quem Deus suscitavit a mortuis, cujus nos testes sumus. 14 But you denied the holy and the just, and asked that a murderous man be given to you: 15 but you killed the author of life, whom God raised from the dead, of whom we are witnesses. 16 And in the faith of his name, this one whom you have seen and know, his name confirmed: and the faith that is through him gave this complete healing in the sight of you all. 17 And now, brothers, I know that you did it through ignorance, just like your leaders. 18 And God fulfilled that which he foretold through the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer. 19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out: 20 that when the times of refreshment come from the sight of the Lord, and he sends him who was preached to you, Jesus Christ, 21 whom indeed heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all that God has spoken through the mouth of the saints of his own from the age of the prophets. 22 Moyses quidem dixit : Quoniam prophetam suscitabit vobis Dominus Deus vester de fratribus vestris, tamquam me : ipsum audietis juxta omnia quæcumque locutus fuerit vobis. 22 Moses indeed said: Because the Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet from among your brothers, like me: you will hear him according to all that he has spoken to you. 23 And it shall come to pass: every soul that shall not hear that prophet shall be exterminated from among the people. 24 And all the prophets, from Samuel onwards, who spoke, announced these days. 25 You are the children of the prophets, and of the testament which God ordered to our fathers, saying to Abraham: And in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 26 Vobis primum Deus suscitans filium suum, misit eum benedicentem vobis : ut convertat se unusquisque a nequitia sua. 26 God raised up his son to you first, and sent him to bless you: that every one of you should turn from his wickedness.
