LingQ Academy Week 6: New Twitter Accounts
Social media. What would we do without it? What would startups do without it? In an increasingly connected and content-packed world, it’s more and more difficult to get noticed. Social media provides a largely free way for cash-strapped startups to get their ideas or service out there and engage with their community of users.
Our students have been particularly involved in one form of social media since they arrived: YouTube. As the stars of the LingQ Academy Live videos posted to our YouTube channel, Emily, Tamás and Hanna have gotten to know a bit about how the platform works. They’ve even produced one of the videos themselves: a funny inside look at what life is like at the house they share Vancouver. Check it out:
To give Tamás, Emily and Hanna practice with engaging with the startup and language learning communities on another social media channel, we had them sign up for new Twitter accounts. Twitter is a great platform for finding like-minded people, and for making connections. They spent part of week six building a presence on Twitter: following people, liking and retweeting content and finding great content online to share to their new connections. Want to know what they get up to outside of the office, what their favourite thing about Vancouver is, or if they secretly hate us? Tweet them!
Tamás posted a pretty terrifying video of the newest developments in robotics. It’s the beginning of the end!
Probably gonna be part of our future but still… quite terrifyingpic.twitter.com/zJLNZUx1hQ #robotics #AI

Thanks for the nightmares, Tamás!
Hanna and Emily are tweeting about language learning and LingQ, as well as sharing their own blog posts. In fact, Hanna was asked if her blog post on the LingQ onboarding process could be added to not one but two Medium publications! That means people are reading and liking her writing. Excellent work, Hanna!
We’ll be keeping tabs on Emily, Tamás and Hanna’s engagement on both Medium and Twitter and there’ll be a prize for the student who has built the biggest presence.
