Psalm of David 2 Cæli enarrant gloriam Dei, et opera manuum ejus annuntiat firmamentum. 2 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament declares the work of his hands. 3 Dies diei eructat verbum, et nox nocti indicat scientiam. 3 The day of the day belches forth the word, and the night of the night reveals knowledge. 4 Non sunt loquelæ, neque sermones, quorum non audiantur voces eorum. 4 There are no words, no discourses whose voices are not heard. 5 In omnem terram exivit sonus eorum, et in fines orbis terræ verba eorum. 5 Their sound went out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the earth. 6 In sole posuit tabernaculum suum ; et ipse tamquam sponsus procedens de thalamo suo. 6 He pitched his tent in the sun; and himself as a bridegroom proceeding from his chamber. Exsultavit ut gigas ad currendam viam ; 7 a summo cælo egressio ejus. He jumped up like a giant to run the road; 7 His coming forth from the highest heaven. Et occursus ejus usque ad summum ejus ; nec est qui se abscondat a calore ejus. And the meeting of it up to the top of it; and there is no one who hides himself from its heat. 8 Lex Domini immaculata, convertens animas ; testimonium Domini fidele, sapientiam præstans parvulis. 8 The immaculate law of the Lord, converting souls; a faithful testimony of the Lord, imparting wisdom to the little ones. 9 Justitiæ Domini rectæ, lætificantes corda ; præceptum Domini lucidum, illuminans oculos. 9 Righteous justice of the Lord, gladdening hearts; the bright commandment of the Lord, enlightening the eyes. 10 Timor Domini sanctus, permanens in sæculum sæculi ; judicia Domini vera, justificata in semetipsa, 11 desiderabilia super aurum et lapidem pretiosum multum, et dulciora super mel et favum. 10 The holy fear of the Lord, lasting for ever and ever; The judgments of the Lord are true, justified in themselves, 11 more desirable than gold and many precious stones, and sweeter than honey and honeycomb. 12 Etenim servus tuus custodit ea ; in custodiendis illis retributio multa. 12 Indeed, your servant guards them; in keeping them there is much reward. 13 Delicta quis intelligit ? 13 Who understands wrongdoing? ab occultis meis munda me ; 14 et ab alienis parce servo tuo. cleanse me from my secrets; 14 and spare thy servant from strangers.
