You Can't Make Everybody Happy
This is an old story.
It tells us not to worry about what people think of us.
One day, a father and his son walk to the town with their donkey.
They meet an old woman.
She talks to them.
She asks, "Why is the boy walking? He can ride on the donkey. You are a terrible father."
"I'm sorry," says the father.
The boy sits on the donkey.
The father walks.
Soon, the father and son meet an old man.
The old man asks the boy, "Why are you riding the donkey? Your father is tired. You are a terrible son."
"I'm sorry," says the son.
The father gets on the donkey and the son walks.
Soon, they meet a young woman and her child.
The young woman says, "Why is the boy not riding with the father? He will be tired. You are a terrible father."
"I'm sorry," says the father.
The son sits with his father on the donkey.
The father and son meet a young man.
The young man says, "You are too heavy. You will kill the donkey. Why are you so unkind to animals?"
"I'm sorry," says the father.
The father and son carry the donkey on their shoulders.
Everybody laughs at the father and son.
The donkey gets free.
It runs away.
The father says to his son, "Son, you can't make everybody happy."
