也许 ， 这 一切 对 我 都 还 很 新鲜 的 缘故 ， 法国 文化 比起 我 成长 其中 讲 英语 的 北美 文化 ， 似乎 更 自由 、 也 更 自然 。 Maybe it's because it's all still so new to me that French culture seems freer and more natural than the English-speaking North American culture in which I grew up. 那 是 个 极具 异国情调 的 新世界 ， 我 忽然间 想要 学习 法语 。 It was an exotic new world, and I suddenly wanted to learn French. 我 到 法语 剧院 、 结交 讲 法语 的 朋友 、 开始 阅读 法文 报纸 、 并且 收听 法语 广播 。 I went to French-language theaters, made French-speaking friends, started reading French newspapers, and listened to French-language radio. 我 开始 注意 那些 法语 同胞 关心 的 议题 ， 透过 参加 会议 和 讨论 ， 我 的 法语 技巧 自然 地 进步 了 ， 也 开始 了解 讲 法语 的 魁北克 人 有 什么 期待 与 委屈 。 I began to pay attention to topics of interest to my French-speaking compatriots, and through my participation in meetings and discussions, I naturally progressed in my French language skills and began to understand the expectations and grievances of French-speaking Quebecers.
