20: 나무 위의 모험

“타라, 밤이 다 되었잖니. 어디 있었니?” 엄마가 화난 목소리로 말했습니다.

타라는 대답했습니다. “학교 앞에 있는 큰 나무에 올라갔어요. 하늘에 닿을 정도로 높은 나무였어요.

발 아래에는 푹신한 구름이 있었어요. 머리 위에는 웃는 얼굴을 한 나뭇잎들이 있었고요.

나뭇잎은 웃지 않는 줄 알았는데 말이에요! 그 나뭇잎 사이에 다람쥐들이 숨어 있었어요.

큰 다람쥐들은 저에게 도토리를 줬어요. 작은 다람쥐들은 머리카락 안에서 숨바꼭질을 했지요.

우리는 몇 시간 동안 함께 놀았어요. 그러다 집에 가야 한다는 생각이 들었어요. 하지만 내려가는 방법을 몰랐어요.

그래서 다람쥐들은 도와 달라고 소리치기 시작했어요. “끼끼끼끼!” 이렇게요.

다행히 보라색 비행기가 가까운 곳에 있었어요. 조종사가 다람쥐들의 소리를 들었지요.

조종사는 아래로 내려와서 나를 태우고 집에 데려다 주었어요.
