The Son Who Doesn't Listen
This is an old story from the Middle East.
This story teaches us about living in a good way.
A man has a big farm.
He and his wife have a son.
But the son does not listen to them.
He does what he wants.
One day, the son says, "Mother and Father, I want some land now."
"No, we will not sell the land," they say.
"But I want it now. It's mine," he says strongly.
"But you will sell the land to get money."
"No, I won't," he says.
"OK, we will give you some land," says his father.
But the son sells the land.
Now he is rich and happy.
But his father and mother are angry.
"I am going to see the world," says the son.
"No, listen to us," says his father.
"Work hard. You can make more money here."
The son doesn't listen.
He goes to many places.
He spends a lot of money.
He makes some friends.
They are not good friends.
They spend his money too.
He gets a letter from his father.
"Come home, now," it says.
But the son doesn't listen.
He only wants to have fun.
He loves money.
Soon, the son has no money.
He is not happy.
He asks his friends for money.
The friends say no.
The son steals food because he is hungry.
He is in big trouble.
Many people are angry with him.
The son comes back home.
"I'm sorry, Mother and Father. I'm a bad son. I will listen to you now."
