#84 Serge & Marianne – L'apprentissage des langues

Marianne: Ca fait parti de la culture, la nourriture, la musique...hier, j'écoutais de...j'avais envie d'écouter de la musique hier, donc j'ai écouté un peu français, américain, russe. J'ai écouté un peu de tout. Et ça incite à mieux apprendre leur langue et à mieux savoir concernant leur culture, à mieux les connaître. Donc, il y a des langues qui nous attirent plus, des pays qui nous attirent plus…

Serge: Oui, bien sûr.

Marianne: Ca permet de mieux apprendre.

Serge: Chaque culture apporte quelque chose. Il y a de tout dedans à prendre, des bonnes choses. Bon, il y en a des mauvaises mais il y a beaucoup de bonnes choses et c'est pas mal, ce mélange de cultures. Oui.

Marianne: Et toi, tu serais...Tu es intéressé par l'anglais, ça c'est sûr et certain. Serge: Oui, je mentirais si je disais le contraire.

Marianne: Voilà, mais est-ce qu'il y aurait d'autres langues, qui t'ont déjà attiré pour les apprendre? Est-ce qu'un jour tu veux apprendre une autre langue? Serge: Je ne sais pas s'il y en a une en particulier, heu... Marianne: Une ou plusieurs.

Serge: Oui, une ou plusieurs. Je...j'aurais tendance, pas forcément parce que je les aime, mais j'aurais tendance à vouloir éventuellement réapprendre l'allemand parce que je l'ai déjà appris...enfin je l'ai déjà appris, c'était ma première langue étrangère au lycée donc heu...j'ai quand même quelques bases, des restes. Comme il me restait de l'anglais quand je me suis remis à l'anglais, puisque l'anglais était ma deuxième langue étrangère au lycée. Mais pas forcément parce que j'aime cette langue, l'allemand, parce que c'est une langue assez gutturale et je ne la trouve pas spécialement jolie à écouter à l'oreille mais bon. Par contre, les fois où j'ai voyagé en Allemagne, j'ai beaucoup aimé ce pays. J'aime bien les gens là-bas, j'aime bien le pays. Donc, voilà, cette langue. J'avais pensé à l'espagnol parce qu'en fait, c'est une langue qui est quand même très présente dans le monde. Il y a beaucoup de pays qui ont l'espagnol comme langue officielle. Et puis moi, je n'habite pas très très loin de l'Espagne. Ma fille a fait de l'espagnol à l'école; elle pourrait éventuellement m'aider. Et sinon, pour faire plus exotique, mais là ce serait peut-être plus par curiosité. Ce serait peut être une langue qu'après j'abandonnerais tout de suite parce qu'elle ne me plairait pas, c'est bien le russe qui est une langue...bah, qui résonne bizarrement dans les oreilles et on n'est pas du tout habitué à ce langage mais...ce genre de langues, tu vois, ou pourquoi pas l'arabe aussi. Mais je ne sais pas s'il y a un arabe ou s'il y a plusieurs langues arabes et s'il y a des différences entre elles. Marianne: Il y a un arabe, c'est l'arabe littéraire mais comme partout, il y a des dialectes. Serge: Voilà.

Donc plutôt, je serais à la recherche d'une langue qui serait quand même beaucoup parlé dans le monde et...pour le côté utilité, quoi utilitaire de la chose. Alors, l'arabe littéraire oui, mais si après c'est qu'une histoire de dialectes...je ne sais pas si je m'en sortirais. Marianne: Bien, maintenant...enfin maintenant, non. Ca a toujours été, dans les écoles, c'est l'arabe littéraire qui est enseigné. Enfin, ça dépend dans quel pays, hein. Il y a un pays déjà qu'on confond. Pour beaucoup de gens, les Turcs sont des Arabes mais ce qui est faux. Et ils ne parlent pas l'arabe. Serge: Non, non. Le turque, c'est une langue différente, oui. Marianne: En Algérie, dans les écoles, c'est l'arabe littéraire qui est enseigné. Mais il y a des gens, c'est enfin… certains Algériens, c'est un dialecte qu'ils parlent. Il est déjà arrivé par exemple qu'un Egyptien et qu'un Algérien se parlent et qu'ils ne se comprennent pas. Mais qu'est-ce tu dis? Tu parles Arabe? Oui, mais moi aussi. Mais ils ne se comprennent pas parce qu'en Egypte, ils parlent l'arabe littéraire. Serge: Oui.

Donc là, ce serait plus pour le côté découverte parce que je vais vraiment partir de zéro.

Marianne: Oui.

Serge: Absolument aucune connaissance. Voilà, maintenant, j'ai déjà assez de mal avec l'anglais donc je ne sais pas si c'est pour demain. Il faudrait que j'ai plus de temps déjà parce que sincèrement, j'ai pas beaucoup de temps. Je passe...enfin, j'ai le même temps que tout le monde. Tout le monde a 24 heures mais moi, j'ai vraiment pas assez de 24 heures. Bon déjà, je travaille la journée. Bon, c'est vrai que j'arrive à tricher un peu la journée. J'ai un accès internet au travail donc j'arrive un peu à naviguer pendant...tout dépend le travail qu'on a mais 1 heure ou des fois 2 heures quand j'ai moins de travail. Et puis ben, j'ai le vélo. Ca me prend beaucoup de temps parce que ça demande des heures d'entraînement et voilà…et puis, il y a quand même des choses à faire à la maison. Le chien, il faut le promener, même si ça ne dure pas 2 heures, la promenade. Ben, le temps, tu vois, d'y aller, de revenir, de s'occuper de lui donner à boire, de… Marianne: Oui, et puis passer du temps en famille…

Serge: Oui, voilà. Rester un moment avec sa famille, voilà. Moi, il me faudrait facilement le double par jour d'heures pour y arriver et à ce moment-là, peut-être que je pourrais consacrer du temps à une autre langue. J'estime que mon anglais n'est pas assez bon pour baisser le pied et ralentir. Donc si j'apprenais une autre langue, je ne rognerais pas sur mes heures que je passe en anglais. Donc tu vois, ça me demanderais encore beaucoup de temps.

Marianne: Voilà.

Serge: Je crois que c'est-ce qui me bloque, je pense, dans ce cas. Marianne: C'est-ce que je pense aussi. Je trouve que j'ai à apprendre avec l'anglais donc heu...Apprendre une autre langue, oui mais sans diminuer ce que je fais avec l'anglais. Serge: Voilà.

C'est mon problème là quand même. Marianne: Les études que je fais, c'est en anglais. Les discussions, en anglais. Tout…au bout d'un moment, je voulais voir un peu autre chose pour me divertir… Serge: Oui.

Une espèce de saturation, tu avais, non?

Marianne: Je voulais…oui. Continuer avec l'anglais ça, ça ne changeait pas mais je voulais aussi voir une autre langue, apprendre… Serge: Oui.

Et alors non? Tu as…?

Marianne: Eh bien, j'ai essayé un peu…il y a quelques années et après, j'ai arrêté parce que je n'avais plus le temps etc. Donc, c'était le russe et l'espagnol. Il y a un été, donc il y a deux ans, j'avais fait les trois. Je faisais l'anglais, l'espagnol et le russe et donc, à la rentrée, en septembre, j'ai été obligée d'arrêter, pas de temps. J'ai repris un petit peu et il y a quelques mois, comme je t'ai dit oui un peu saturée, je voulais voir autre chose donc, j'ai bien réfléchi quelle langue, entre le russe et l'espagnol. En russe, je suis complètement débutante, ce qui n'est pas le cas en espagnol. Et si j'apprends l'espagnol, je veux m'investir dedans et je ne peux pas m'investir dans deux langues, l'anglais et l'espagnol. Donc, j'ai choisi de faire quand je peux le russe parce que je ne veux pas baisser ma concentration en anglais donc, de temps en temps, quand je peux je lis et j'écoute du russe. Et encore, ça c'est une langue que je ne pensais…je n'ai jamais pensé être un jour intéressée à l'apprendre parce que moi, c'était…après l'anglais, c'est l'espagnol et puis il y a l'allemand. Et de loin, je me suis dit si un jour j'ai…quand je serais vieille, à la retraite, pourquoi pas le chinois. Ca, ça m'intéresserait. Oui, il y a deux ans, j'ai voulu essayer le russe parce qu'on m'avait demandé à ce moment-là s'il était possible d'apprendre, à partir de zéro, une langue avec le système de LingQ et alors je disais oui. Mais je ne l'ai jamais fait donc je ne l'ai jamais fait donc, c'est bien de dire oui mais en es-tu sûr? Donc, j‘ai voulu essayer. L'espagnol, ce n'est pas possible parce que je ne suis pas complètement débutante ; L'allemand, non ; Alors, j'ai jeté un coup d'œil au japonais, au chinois, j'ai même pas essayé. J'ai dit non, on laisse tomber. Et bien, j'ai essayé le russe. Et puis en fin de compte, j'ai bien aimé. C'est une langue qui me plait donc j‘aimerais continuer. Bon, je continue avec l'anglais. L'année prochaine, il va falloir que je me mettre sérieusement à l'espagnol parce que, avec les cours que je fais, le dernier cours du programme, c'est l'espagnol. Il va bien falloir que je me mette à l‘espagnol pour réussir les examens.

Serge: Oui.

Marianne: Oui bon, c'est vraiment de base, ça doit sûrement être des examens concernant la grammaire, des trucs comme ça, de base. Et ensuite, une fois que j'aurai fini le programme, pourquoi pas continuer l'espagnol avec LingQ, oui. Parce que l'espagnol, de toute façon, je veux le parler. C'est une langue qui m'attire. Après l'anglais, c'est l'espagnol. Mon père le parlait. Il a oublié beaucoup parce qu'il ne le parle plus du tout depuis des années mais si je m'y mets avec lui oui, ce serait bien. Serge: Bien moi, si tu veux, entre l'espagnol et le russe, je serais complètement débutant dans les deux cas donc, ça pourrait…pour tester LingQ dans les vraies conditions, c'est-à-dire débuter de zéro. Mais la différence, c'est que l'espagnol reste une langue avec les mêmes origines que le français alors que le russe, c'est…tu as déjà un alphabet différent. Marianne: Bien, il faut apprendre l'alphabet. Serge: Voilà, il faut apprendre l'alphabet. Ca demande donc un effort supplémentaire.

Marianne: Ce serait plus facile en espagnol.

Serge: Ca me paraitrait plus facile. Je ne veux pas être absolument…

Marianne: Catégorique.

Serge: Là-dessus…catégorique, oui. Ca me paraitrait plus simple, l'espagnol. Marianne: Au premier abord.

Serge: En plus apparemment, il y a quand même des mots qui se rapprochent plus du français.

Marianne: Oui.

Serge: Alors que le russe, c'est vraiment totalement différent. Mais moi, je serais un peu réticent pour ça quoi, pour le russe mais sinon dans les deux cas, espagnol ou russe, je serais vraiment…partir vraiment à partir de zéro donc heu…Je ne sais pas. Franchement, pour l'instant, je manque de temps. Comme tu dis, au moment de la retraite, pourquoi pas? Je vois des gens à LingQ qui sont retraités depuis quelques années, qui sont assidus et donc, ont pas mal de temps je pense à consacrer, qui arrivent à...je pense à Herman, qui…je lui avais parlé tout au début, il apprenait beaucoup l'anglais et puis après, il s'était mis au français et j'avais…il disait quelques mot en français et j'ai eu l'occasion de lui reparler après. Marianne: Il s'est bien amélioré, oui. Serge: Oui, je n'en revenais pas. Et rien que pour ça, je me suis dit c'est quand même efficace. Bon, je ne sais pas si lui, il avait déjà des connaissances du lycée pour ça, enfin en tout cas lui, je sais qu'il a quand même plus de temps parce qu'il est retraité mais ce n'est pas les seules langues je pense qu'il apprend. Il me semble qu‘il en apprend d'autres mais, en tout cas, moi il m'avait épaté avec le français parce que j'avais l'occasion de discuter…enfin, de discuter... On s'est dit quelques mots au début et peut-être un ou deux ans après et il y avait une sacrée différence en effet, oui. En français, et même en anglais aussi, j'ai vu qu'il avait…donc, quand j'aurais plus de temps, je ne ferme pas la porte. Je ne dis pas non. C'est un truc qui m'intéresserait, oui. Marianne: Et puis ça dépend ce que tu souhaites faire. Par exemple moi, si je compare l'espagnol et le russe, l'espagnol, je veux vraiment le parler, l'écrire enfin, connaitre cette langue et parler couramment. Le russe moins parce que j'aimerais bien pouvoir le comprendre et le lire mais vu que ce n'est pas ma priorité, je ne pourrais pas m'y concentrer en même temps que les autres donc ce sera beaucoup plus long pour moi. Et donc déjà avec l'anglais c'est déjà bien, ensuite l'espagnol. L'allemand m'intéresserait beaucoup. Serge: Et en fait d'après Steve, plus tu…pas seulement d'après lui mais je sais que lui, il le pense et le dit, plus tu apprends de langues et plus les suivantes sont faciles à apprendre. Alors est-ce…je ne sais pas pourquoi. Alors est-ce parce que ton cerveau est habitué à l'apprentissage des langues ou est-ce qu'il y a tellement de similitudes, finalement, entre les langues, que…on retrouve beaucoup de mots communs, je ne sais pas mais donc c'est vrai que peut-être qu'il aurait fallu dès le départ, je vais dire ‘tiens, je vais apprendre trois langues'. Et bien anglais, allemand, espagnol, enfin peu importe les langues mais…et si ça se trouve…tu vois, au bout de… tu vois moi ça fait déjà cinq ans, j'aurais peut-être un niveau assez intéressant des les trois. Je ne sais pas.

Marianne: Oui, mais comme tu as dit, cela dépend aussi du temps que l'on a. Serge: Bon là, il aurait fallu que je partage dans les trois donc…

Marianne: Voilà.

Marianne: Voilà donc ça dépend le…les buts que tu as. Si tu veux t'améliorer vraiment dans une langue…partagé ton temps entre deux ou trois, bien sûr tes progrès seront plus lents. Serge: Oui.

Ou alors, il aurait fallu commencer beaucoup plus tôt, quoi.

Marianne: Oui, c'est facile. Serge: Bah oui, non mais…ça c'est des regrets que j'ai et que j'aurais toujours. C'est de ne pas m'être intéressé bon, déjà au lycée, ça c'est une chose mais après l'avoir quitté…depuis que je suis rentré à l'armée, j'ai eu plusieurs occasions. Mon premier poste quand j'ai quitté l'école de Rochefort, l'école où j'ai appris mon métier d'électronicien, euh j'étais affecté à Chambéry, enfin au Bourget du Lac plus précisément, la base 700 et quelques….je ne me souviens plus du numéro. Et j'étais affecté dans un service technique. Et nous, on était…on s'occupait de…du centre de…pédagogique, alors c'est là où ils formaient les instructeurs qui…on appelle ça instructeur. On va dire allez, les professeurs de…qui allaient enseigner pour les autres militaires donc on leur apprenait la pédagogie. Et ils avaient besoin…donc, ils travaillaient avec des magnétoscopes, ils travaillaient…ils avaient un mini régie-télé parce qu'ils s'enregistraient et ils se filmaient pour pouvoir voir leurs défauts. Et donc nous, on s'occupait de la maintenance du matériel et en grosse partie, on s'occupait de la maintenance des laboratoires de langues puisque déjà, l'armée, à cette époque, formaient ses personnels, leur apprenait l'anglais pour ceux qui allaient travailler pour l'Otan. Ils formaient des gens au russe, au tchèque parce qu'à l'époque, c'était…ça, je te parle de ça c'était en 75, donc il y avait encore le bloc de l'est, avec le mur de Berlin et donc heu il y avait les pays…donc, on passait notre temps à écouter les conversations, à…enfin les transmissions militaires des autres. Donc, en fait, on formait des gens au russe, au tchèque, pour intercepter les communications des pays de l'est, essayer d‘en tirer des renseignements, en tout cas des enseignements sur leurs défenses, etc. Donc, on formait des gens. Donc, si tu veux, j'étais au cœur d'un système. Bon moi, j'étais là pour le réparer mais j'aurais très bien pu dire, tiens tous les jours puisque je connaissais tous les instructeurs…j'aurais pu m'arranger, tiens est-ce que vous pouvez me donner des cours, allez une heure par jour, dans les conditions d'un laboratoire de langue qui était quand même dans les conditions qui étaient nettement mieux qu'on avait au lycée où on apprenait à partir d'un bouquin qui était la plupart du temps ennuyeux, avec la plupart du temps de profs qui étaient ennuyeux. Et alors là, c'étaient avec des profs qui étaient quand même intéressés, qui avaient un très bon niveau et avec des moyens quand même modernes pour l'époque, c'est à dire qu'on s'enregistrait, on parlait. C'était beaucoup plus basé sur l'oral, ce qu'on ne faisait pas à l'école. Marianne: Maintenant, ça se fait. C'est plus… Serge: Bah, bien sûr. Bien parce qu'ils ont vu que c'était bien plus efficace. Donc tu vois, j'ai eu des opportunités que je n'ai pas saisies et si j'avais commencé en…bien, j'étais affecté en 77, à Chambéry, et pendant 7 ans, je suis resté là-bas. Si pendant ces 7 années, imagine, si j'avais… Marianne: Oui.

Serge: Appris le russe, le tchèque, l'anglais. J'aurais pu faire les trois en même temps. Etalés sur de longues années et commencé jeune…donc, voilà. Donc ça, c'est des regrets que j'ai et je me dis que vu mon âge, je ne pourrais jamais rattraper le temps perdu. Voilà, c'est pour ça que je me limite à l'anglais. On va dire ça comme ça.

Marianne: Oui mais il y a certaines choses que j'aurais pu faire et que je n'ai pas faites. Les langues, ça ne m'intéressaient pas quand j'étais plus jeune. Il y a beaucoup de choses que je regrette de ne pas avoir saisies mais maintenant, j'ai décidé de profiter que je ne suis pas trop vieille encore pour essayer un peu de rattraper ce que je n'ai pas fait. Donc ce que je fais là depuis disons deux ans, trois ans même, ça me convient. Et oui, il faut aller de l'avant et ne pas regarder en arrière et toujours regretter. Serge: Bah oui, c'est vrai que de toute façon c'est en vieillissant qu'on s'aperçoit de ça alors il y en a qui disent que c'est la sagesse des anciens, euh on peut dire aussi, c‘est l‘expérience. Et donc, est-ce que ça veut dire que sagesse est égale à expérience? Je ne sais pas.

Il faudrait en parler avec un….on est porter sur la philosophie.

Marianne: Ca dépend si on tire les conséquences…

Serge: Oui de l'expérience. A ce moment-là ça devient de la sagesse.

Marianne: Voilà mais enfin…

Serge: C'est une bonne définition là que… Marianne: Est-ce que c'est vraiment de la sagesse? Je n‘en sais rien.

Serge: Si, comme tu dis, si tu tires les leçons de ces expériences, là ça devient de la sagesse, parce que l'expérience, si tu ne t'en sers pas, ce n'est pas de la sagesse. Marianne: L'expérience, déjà c'est quand tu as également tiré les conséquences des coups durs qui te sont arrivés ou d'autres choses un peu meilleurs et en analysant… Serge: Là, tu vas déjà dans la sagesse, là je pense. Si déjà, tu tires…tu analyses tes erreurs, enfin par rapport à ton expérience, tu analyses tes erreurs en disant je ne vais pas les refaire, c'est déjà que tu as attaqué le côté sagesse parce que tu peux très bien avoir une grande expérience mais persister dans tes erreurs, malgré l'expérience. Marianne: Oui, c'est vrai. Serge: Et à ce moment-là, tu n'as toujours pas la sagesse. Marianne: Oui, c'est vrai. Serge: Mais bon moi, je pense que, par rapport à ton âge, tu as le temps de…en tout cas, plus le temps que moi, de rattraper le temps perdu si le temps se rattrape. On dit bien que le temps ne se rattrape jamais.

Marianne: Non.

Serge: Mais, en tout cas, essayer de gommer, comme tu dis, les années perdues.

Marianne: Voilà, et ne pas trop traîner parce que ça avance vite, le temps.

Serge: Oui mais tu sais, des gens…comme tu es motivée toi, il n'y a pas beaucoup de gens comme ça donc, en fait, tu n'as peut-être pas perdu autant de temps que ça. Marianne: Chaque personne a ses intérêts, ses buts donc heu…Voilà, et puis toi, il n'est pas trop tard, hein. Serge: Ah non il n'est pas trop tard. Je ne serais peut-être pas centenaire mais…il ne faut pas le souhaiter mais si je finis comme un légume, j'aime autant pas, mais bon l'espérance de vie à tendance à… Marianne : A se rallonger.

Serge: Pas parce que ce sera indispensable mais parce que ce sera un petit plus et voilà…donc j'ai cette échéance et donc si ça se trouve avant la fin de l'année, là je me serais remis à l‘allemand. Si malheureusement, je n'ai pas le job, il va falloir que je cherche au plus profond de moi les motivations et là, ça va être très dur. Et à ce moment-là, ce sera peut-être l'espagnol, ou l'allemand ou les deux, ou rien du tout, voilà donc heu… Marianne: Bien moi, c'est forcé en fin d'année prochaine, ça va être espagnol. Et puis disons, je ne sais pas, peut-être à 50 ans je me mettrai à l'allemand et puis voilà. On verra, il ne faut pas faire trop à long terme. L'espagnol, je l'avais choisi parce que, même encore maintenant, je l'aime bien et parce que mon père le parlait et puis je veux un peu aussi l'inciter un peu à reparler l'espagnol. L'allemand…bien ma grand-mère parlait…mon arrière-grand-mère parlait allemand donc j'aimerais pouvoir parler allemand. Ce sont des langues intéressantes. L'italien aussi, c'est bien mais il y a trop de langues donc… Serge: Oui, je me souviens que…d'une conversation, je me souviens c'était tout au début, c‘était encore Le Linguiste. Marianne: Oui.

Serge: Il y avait un…dans le cours auquel j'assistais, il y avait un Italien et… Marianne: Oui.

Serge: Chacun devait…avait… essayait de vanter un peu son…c'était un genre d'exercice qu'on avait, chacun essayait un petit peu de vanter sa langue et... Marianne: Oui.

Marianne: C'est très jolie comme langue. Serge: Et en plus, je pense qu'il avait une élocution qui était vraiment très très bonne et il était doué pour réciter des poésies parce que c'était vraiment très très beau, sérieusement. Et c'est à ce moment-là, je me suis dit j'aimerais bien apprendre l'italien. Marianne: Oui, l'italien, c'est beau. Serge: Oui.

Et en fait, je crois qu'à cette époque, je ne sais pas maintenant mais à…au linguiste, il n'y avait pas beaucoup de…et je ne sais pas s'il y avait peut-être déjà…si on pouvait apprendre l'italien, à ce moment-là. Marianne: Non, c'est avec LingQ que ça a changé. Serge: Oui, avec LingQ. Donc voilà ça, ça m'a…et puis bon, je dirais…je débutais l'anglais et à ce moment-là, j'étais persuadé qu'il ne fallait pas que je me disperse et puis qu'il fallait que je me consacre qu'à l'anglais donc j'avais pas été plus loin dans la réflexion mais j'avais trouvé vraiment trouvé ça super beau. Marianne: Ok.

Serge: Toi, tu as des bons restes en espagnol.

Marianne: En espagnol, ça va je…ce qui me manque, c'est que…parler et écrire. Serge: Je ne comprends pas alors que tu ne t'y sois pas mis parce que tu ne pars vraiment pas de zéro donc heu, Marianne: Je ne pars pas de zéro mais je…pour moi, l'anglais, je n'ai pas encore atteint le niveau que je souhaite. Et oui, donc l'année prochaine. Moi, je me fixe l'année prochaine. De toute façon, vu que mon dernier cours sera l'espagnol donc l'année prochaine. En fin d'année prochaine, je me lance dans l'espagnol. Donc je peux...

Serge: Chiche.

Marianne: Chiche? Ah bah, chiche…sûr et certain.

Serge: Ok.

Marianne: C'est fixé, ok. Voilà donc heu… Ca me fait penser, c'est qu'il y a…oh, il y a un bout de temps avec mon père…bon souvent, il me disait quelques mots en espagnol et puis…alors il m'avait appris…donc je savais compter jusqu'à je ne sais plus combien…, compter en français ça, c'est sûr et certain,…donc je savais compter en anglais, je connaissais un petit peu en espagnol, j'avais appris jusqu'à sept, je crois, en allemand, et il m'avait…mon père m'avait appris jusqu'à 6 en arabe. Serge: Oui.
