Real Conversation #7: Family (Gabriel & Kevin)

Gabriel: How often do you go to the gym now?

Kevin: I go to the gym around three to four times a week.

Gabriel: Excellent, ok.

Kevin: Three to four times a week.

Gabriel: It's important to get your rest as well.

Kevin: Of course, it's important to get rest. It's just, that's an example. That's a positive habit and you can do a negative habit too, such as you can start...

Gabriel: Smoking. Kevin: Smoking, drinking a lot, you know, all of these things are quite easy to fall into the trap of, especially when you are young. Kevin: When you're young you think you are invincible.

Gabriel: Invincible. Yeah, that's true, and then you start smoking, you start drinking and you don't stop. You are right, I think that... that sounds like excellent advice and it makes me happy that, you know, that that's what you're telling them, that's what you're trying to teach them. Because, I think that, you know, sometimes like an older friend, or even an older brother or older cousin who actually in a way, although they care about their younger friends or cousins or brothers, they will introduce them to bad habits, they will tell them, “Hey, let's have a drink, or let's smoke, or let's do drugs or something” so... That's really cool that you have this.

Kevin: That's true, it did start with me, because when I was 14, with my oldest cousin, not in Poland but in Iran, he was around ten years older than I was at the time and that was when I had my first drink ever, at 14 with him. And I'm not obviously, a heavy drinker, but, that got me into drinking every now and then, which essentially even moderate drinking, it could have its bad health effects, but at the same time like, we are all about having some fun in life. I drink in moderation and thankfully I've maintained a healthy lifestyle so I won't fall into the trap of drinking excessively.

Gabriel: Excellent. That is very good. Yeah, you know, I'm much the same way, yesterday I had two glasses of red wine and, normally, I don't go much further than that because you know, like... I think that to enjoy the evening if you want to… even if you're with a friend or if you're on a date, or uh... even if you are at a party, if you have... you drink two bottles of wine you're not going to have as much control, you're not going to have as much fun.
