Story 2. The Gift
Today is Grandma's 85th birthday.
I'm giving her a picture, says Brian.
I took it with my new camera.
What are you going to give her, he asks his brother Joey.
I don't know, says Joey.
I don't have a camera, so I can't take a picture.
Joey goes into the kitchen.
His mom is busy baking.
Mom, what are you giving Grandma?
I'm baking her favourite cake, says Joey's mom.
I can't bake cakes.
I don't know how, says Joey.
Joey goes to his sister's room.
She is busy sewing.
Susan, what are you giving Grandma?
I'm making her a warm blanket, says Susan.
I can't sew blankets.
I don't know how, says Joey.
Joey then goes and sits next to Grandma on the couch.
Everyone has a present for you but me.
I can't take a picture, bake, or sew.
I don't have anything to give you, says Joey.
Grandma put her arm around Joey.
No one else has the time to come and sit with me.
That's what you can give me, says Grandma.
Joey snuggles in close to Grandma.
Happy birthday, he says.
