Living in Scotland - A story by a New Scot
Before, when I lived in Turkey, I didn't know a word of English. Now I know a lot. I've learnt English so well by practising with the teaching staff in the council.
I'm very very happy about my children. Before in Turkey, my children didn't like school. Now in Irvine, Saturday and Sunday is a holiday. My children say, ‘Dad, I don't like the holidays, I like school.'
Before I thought I wanted to have a job. I would like to go to work but now I can't because my health is not good. I cannot stand a long time. I cannot walk a long distance.
I like Scotland for trips. On our last holiday, we went to a caravan. The caravan was beside the swimming pool. My children were very excited.
‘Dad, at 9 o'clock in the morning we will go swimming and come back at 9pm!'
Next holiday maybe we will go to visit Glen Coe.
I'm very happy in Scotland. I like my neighbours and I like the employees in the council.
