Liber Psalmorum, Psalmi 1-30, Psalmus 021

Psalmus 021

1 In finem, pro susceptione matutina. Psalmus David. 2 Deus, Deus meus, respice in me : quare me dereliquisti ? longe a salute mea verba delictorum meorum. 8 Omnes videntes me deriserunt me ; locuti sunt labiis, et moverunt caput. 9 Speravit in Domino, eripiat eum : salvum faciat eum, quoniam vult eum. 13 Circumdederunt me vituli multi ; tauri pingues obsederunt me. 14 Aperuerunt super me os suum, sicut leo rapiens et rugiens. 15 Sicut aqua effusus sum, et dispersa sunt omnia ossa mea : factum est cor meum tamquam cera liquescens in medio ventris mei. 16 Aruit tamquam testa virtus mea, et lingua mea adhæsit faucibus meis : et in pulverem mortis deduxisti me. 17 Quoniam circumdederunt me canes multi ; concilium malignantium obsedit me. Foderunt manus meas et pedes meos ; 18 dinumeraverunt omnia ossa mea. Ipsi vero consideraverunt et inspexerunt me. 19 Diviserunt sibi vestimenta mea, et super vestem meam miserunt sortem. 20 Tu autem, Domine, ne elongaveris auxilium tuum a me ; ad defensionem meam conspice. 22 Salva me ex ore leonis, et a cornibus unicornium humilitatem meam. 23 Narrabo nomen tuum fratribus meis ; in medio ecclesiæ laudabo te. 24 Qui timetis Dominum, laudate eum ; universum semen Jacob, glorificate eum. 25 Timeat eum omne semen Israël, quoniam non sprevit, neque despexit deprecationem pauperis, nec avertit faciem suam a me : et cum clamarem ad eum, exaudivit me. 26 Apud te laus mea in ecclesia magna ; vota mea reddam in conspectu timentium eum.

Psalmus 021 Psalm 021 Psalm 021 Salmo 021 Salmo 021

1 In finem, pro susceptione matutina. 1 In the end, for the morning reception. Psalmus David. 2 Deus, Deus meus, respice in me : quare me dereliquisti ? longe a salute mea verba delictorum meorum. 3 My God, I will cry all day long, and you will not hear; and at night, and not for my foolishness. 4 Tu autem in sancto habitas, laus Israël. 4 But thou dwellest in the holy place, O praise of Israel. 5 In te speraverunt patres nostri ; speraverunt, et liberasti eos. 5 Our fathers trusted in you; they hoped, and you delivered them. 6 They cried out to you and were saved; they trusted in you, and were not confounded. 7 But I am a worm, and not a man; the reproach of men, and the abjection of the people. 8 Omnes videntes me deriserunt me ; locuti sunt labiis, et moverunt caput. 8 All who saw me laughed at me; they spoke with their lips, and moved their heads. 9 Speravit in Domino, eripiat eum : salvum faciat eum, quoniam vult eum. 9 He hoped in the Lord to deliver him: to save him, because he wants him. 10 Because you are the one who drew me from the womb, my hope from my mother's breasts. 11 In te projectus sum ex utero ; de ventre matris meæ Deus meus es tu : 12 ne discesseris a me, quoniam tribulatio proxima est, quoniam non est qui adjuvet. 11 I was thrown into you from the womb; You are my God from my mother's womb: 12 do not depart from me, because trouble is near, because there is no one to help. 13 Circumdederunt me vituli multi ; tauri pingues obsederunt me. 13 Many calves surrounded me; The fat bulls besieged me. 14 Aperuerunt super me os suum, sicut leo rapiens et rugiens. 14 They opened their mouth upon me, like a roaring and raping lion. 15 Sicut aqua effusus sum, et dispersa sunt omnia ossa mea : factum est cor meum tamquam cera liquescens in medio ventris mei. 15 I was poured out like water, and all my bones were scattered: my heart became like melting wax in the midst of my belly. 16 Aruit tamquam testa virtus mea, et lingua mea adhæsit faucibus meis : et in pulverem mortis deduxisti me. 16 My strength dried up like a shell, and my tongue clung to my jaws: and you brought me down to the dust of death. 17 Quoniam circumdederunt me canes multi ; concilium malignantium obsedit me. 17 For many dogs surrounded me; the council of the malignant hath besieged me. Foderunt manus meas et pedes meos ; 18 dinumeraverunt omnia ossa mea. They have pierced my hands and my feet; 18 count all my bones. Ipsi vero consideraverunt et inspexerunt me. But they considered and looked at me. 19 Diviserunt sibi vestimenta mea, et super vestem meam miserunt sortem. 19 They divided my clothes among themselves, and over my clothes they cast lots. 20 Tu autem, Domine, ne elongaveris auxilium tuum a me ; ad defensionem meam conspice. 20 But you, Lord, do not remove your help from me; Look at my defense. 21 Deliver my soul, O God, from the chains, and from the hand of the dog my only one. 22 Salva me ex ore leonis, et a cornibus unicornium humilitatem meam. 22 Save me from the mouth of the lion, and my humility from the horns of the unicorn. 23 Narrabo nomen tuum fratribus meis ; in medio ecclesiæ laudabo te. 23 I will tell your name to my brothers; I will praise you in the midst of the church. 24 Qui timetis Dominum, laudate eum ; universum semen Jacob, glorificate eum. 24 Those who fear the Lord, praise him; the whole seed of Jacob, glorify him. 25 Timeat eum omne semen Israël, quoniam non sprevit, neque despexit deprecationem pauperis, nec avertit faciem suam a me : et cum clamarem ad eum, exaudivit me. 25 Let all the seed of Israel fear him, because he has not despised, nor despised the supplication of the poor, nor turned his face away from me: and when I cried to him, he heard me. 26 Apud te laus mea in ecclesia magna ; vota mea reddam in conspectu timentium eum. 26 With you my praise in the great church; I will make my vows in the presence of those who fear him. 27 The poor shall eat, and shall be satisfied, and they that seek him shall praise the Lord: their hearts shall live for ever and ever. 28 The ends of the earth shall be remembered and turned to the Lord of all things; and all the families of the nations will worship before him: 29 because the kingdom is the Lord's, and he will rule over the nations. 30 Manducaverunt et adoraverunt omnes pingues terræ ; in conspectu ejus cadent omnes qui descendunt in terram. 30 They ate and worshiped all the fat things of the earth; all who descend to the earth shall fall before him. 31 Et anima mea illi vivet ; et semen meum serviet ipsi. 31 And my soul shall live for him; and my seed shall serve them. 32 Annuntiabitur Domino generatio ventura ; et annuntiabunt cæli justitiam ejus populo qui nascetur, quem fecit Dominus. 32 The coming generation will be announced to the Lord; and the heavens will announce his righteousness to the people who will be born, whom the Lord made.
