Civiltà e usanze – Usanze differenti nel salutare Zivilisationen und Bräuche - Unterschiedliche Bräuche bei der Begrüßung Civilization and customs - Different customs in greeting

The Chinese, when they meet an acquaintance on the street, have a habit of asking him: "Where are you going?" or "Are you going out?" appearing very curious about the activities of others; and when they meet him at mealtimes, they often ask him "Have you eaten?". But questions of this kind are actually more habitual greetings than real interrogative phrases.

On the other hand, Italians have different customs, they ask the aforementioned questions only when they really need to know where you want to go or if you have eaten. The greetings they use frequently are: "Good morning!" or "Good evening!" With young people or more intimate people, we also use: "Hello!"; "Salutations!"; «I salute you!»; "Okay?" Etc. и т.д.
