The King with the Golden Touch
This is an old story from Greece.
This story is about a king who wants to be rich.
King Midas is greedy.
He wants to be very rich.
One day, a wizard comes to his castle.
The king says, "You can live in my castle forever."
The wizard is happy.
He says, "I can give you one wish. What is your wish?"
King Midas says, "I wish everything I touch changes to gold. I want to be the richest man in the world."
The wizard makes King Midas's wish come true.
King Midas touches some things.
They change into gold.
The king is very happy.
King Midas is hungry.
He picks up an apple.
The apple changes to gold!
He picks up some water.
It changes to gold.
Now he cannot eat or drink.
King Midas's daughter comes in.
She runs to her father.
"No!" he says.
"She will change into gold!"
The queen stops her daughter.
King Midas asks the wizard, "Can you please stop this?"
The wizard says, "Go to the river. Get the gold off your hands."
King Midas goes to the river.
The gold comes from his hands.
The people by the river find gold.
They are very happy.
Now everybody has gold.
