British Theme Park Bans Screaming on Roller Coaster

When you're in line for a roller coaster, you expect to hear certain rules. No hats. No food or drink. No limbs outside of the car. But no screaming?

That's the rule British theme park Big Sheep hopes to impose. March 27 marked the grand opening of Big Sheep's newest ride, called the Big One. The ride came with signs urging riders not to scream. That's because a group from the neighboring community reportedly protested its construction for five years, according to park owner Rick Turner, arguing that it would be "intrusive."

Turner expressed frustration with the community's opposition, given that Big Sheep has operated at its location in North Devon for 30 years. And others doubt the ability of park goers to comply with the rule. Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain boss Andy Hine told the Daily Star, "I cannot see any way that a non-screaming rule can be enforced." For NewsBeat Social, I'm Molly Riehl.
