1 Quare fremuerunt gentes, et populi meditati sunt inania ? 1 Why do the nations rage? 1 Por que as nações rugiram e os povos não meditaram em nada? 2 Astiterunt reges terræ, et principes convenerunt in unum adversus Dominum, et adversus christum ejus. 2 The kings of the earth, and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against his Anointed. 3 Dirumpamus vincula eorum, et projiciamus a nobis jugum ipsorum. 3 bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4 Qui habitat in cælis irridebit eos, et Dominus subsannabit eos. 4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord has them in derision. 5 Tunc loquetur ad eos in ira sua, et in furore suo conturbabit eos. 5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and anger, and trouble them. 6 Ego autem constitutus sum rex ab eo super Sion, montem sanctum ejus, prædicans præceptum ejus. 6 But I am appointed king by him over Sion his holy mountain, preaching his commandment. 7 Dominus dixit ad me : Filius meus es tu ; ego hodie genui te. 7 The Lord said to me: Thou art my Son; today I am. 8 Postula a me, et dabo tibi gentes hæreditatem tuam, et possessionem tuam terminos terræ. 8 Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the uttermost ends of the earth. 9 Reges eos in virga ferrea, et tamquam vas figuli confringes eos. 9 dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. 10 Et nunc, reges, intelligite ; erudimini, qui judicatis terram. 10 And now, kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Servite Domino in timore, et exsultate ei cum tremore. 11 Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. 12 Apprehendite disciplinam, nequando irascatur Dominus, et pereatis de via justa. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the right way. 13 Cum exarserit in brevi ira ejus, beati omnes qui confidunt in eo. 13 When a blaze of anger Blessed are all who trust in him.
