Evangelium secundum Marcum, Marcum, Capitulum 05

Marcum, Capitulum 05

Marcum, Capitulum 05

1 Et venerunt trans fretum maris in regionem Gerasenorum. 1 And they came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Geraseni.

2 And as he got out of the ship, he immediately met one of the tombs, a man of an unclean spirit, 3 who had a dwelling in the tombs, and no one was able to bind him with chains any more. to subdue him: 5 And he was always day and night in the tombs and in the mountains, crying and cutting himself with stones. 6 Videns autem Jesum a longe, cucurrit, et adoravit eum : 7 et clamans voce magna dixit : Quid mihi et tibi, Jesu Fili Dei altissimi ? 6 And seeing Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him: 7 And crying out with a loud voice, he said: What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? adjuro te per Deum, ne me torqueas. I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. 10 And he besought him much that he would not send them out of the country. 12 And the spirits besought him, saying: Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them. 13 Et concessit eis statim Jesus. 13 And immediately Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd with a great force rushed down the steep hill into the sea, and were drowned in the sea. And they went out to see what was done, 15 and they came to Jesus, and they saw him sitting, clothed and in his right mind, who was afflicted by the demon; and they were afraid. 16 And those who had seen it told them how it was done to him who had the demon, and of the pigs. And they began to beseech him to depart from their coasts. 18 And as he was going up into the ship, he began to beseech him, who had been troubled by the demon, to be with him. 21 And when Jesus had crossed over again in a boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around him, and he was by the sea.

And there came a certain man from the synagogue, Jairus, and seeing him fell at his feet, 23 and begged him much, saying, "Because my daughter is at the end, come, lay your hand on her so that she may be safe and live." and a great crowd followed him and thronged him.25 And the woman who had had an issue of blood for twelve years, 26 and had had to suffer many things from several physicians, had spent all her possessions, and had not gained any advantage, but was rather poorer. from Jesus, he came back from the crowd and touched his clothing. 28 For he said, "If I touch his clothing, I will be safe." Learning of the power that had gone out of him, he turned to the crowd and said, "Who touched my clothes?" But fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done in him, he came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.34 And he said to him, "Daughter, your faith has saved you. 35 While he was still speaking, they came from the synagogue's ruler, saying, "Your daughter is dead, why bother the teacher any more?" James and John the brother of James.38 And they come into the house of the ruler of the synagogue and see a tumult and weeping and wailing loudly. puella non est mortua, sed dormit.40 Et irridebant eum.
