여러분, 옛날 동화 중에 황금알을 낳는 거위 얘기 다 아시죠? You know that old fairy tale about the goose that lays the golden egg? 언젠가 팟캐스트에서 제가 얘기한 적이 있지만 여기에서 다시 한번 하고 싶네요. I talked about this in a podcast at some point, but I wanted to do it again here. 뭐 대충 이런 얘기예요. Well, that's the gist of it. Voici comment cela se passe.

옛날에 농부가 살고 있었습니다. Once upon a time, there lived a farmer. Il était une fois un fermier. 근데 어느 날 농부는 자기가 키우는 거위가 황금알을 낳는다는 사실을 알게 됩니다. But one day, the farmer realizes that his geese are laying golden eggs. Mais un jour, le fermier découvre que ses oies pondent des œufs d'or. 그 거위는 완전 순금으로 된 알을 매일 한개씩 낳았어요. That goose laid one egg every day that was completely solid gold. L'oie pondait chaque jour un œuf en or massif. 기가 막힌 거죠! That's amazing! C'est incroyable !

농부는 이 알을 매일 갖다가 팔아서 돈을 벌었어요. The farmer took these eggs every day and sold them to make money. Le fermier ramassait ces œufs tous les jours et les vendait pour gagner de l'argent. 그리고 그 돈으로 자기 가족이 먹을 것도 사고, 입을 것도 사고, 그랬습니다. And he used that money to buy food for his family, to buy clothes for his family, and so on. Il a utilisé cet argent pour acheter de la nourriture et des vêtements pour sa famille, etc. そして、そのお金で自分の家族が食べるものを買ったり、着るものを買ったり、そうしていました。 이 거위 덕분에 생활비가 다 해결된 거죠. This goose pays the bills. 그런데 농부한테 한가지 불만이 있었습니다. But the farmer had one complaint. Mais l'agriculteur avait un reproche à formuler. 그건 바로, 거위가 알을 하루에 한 개밖에 낳지 않는 다는 거였어요. That is, geese only lay one egg a day. 그러다 어느 날 아이디어가 떠올랐어요. Then one day, I had an idea. Un jour, j'ai eu une idée. 아! 거위 배를 가르면 그 안에 알이 엄청나게 많이 들어있겠구나! If you cut open the goose belly, there must be a lot of eggs in it! Si vous ouvrez le ventre d'une oie, vous y trouverez beaucoup d'œufs ! 그래서 농부는 칼을 들고 거위를 죽여서 배를 갈랐습니다. So the farmer took a knife and killed the goose, cutting it open. Le fermier prend alors son couteau et tue l'oie en lui ouvrant le ventre. 그런데 슬프게도 죽은 거위의 뱃속에는 황금알이 하나도 없었어요. But sadly, there were no golden eggs in the belly of the dead goose. Mais malheureusement, la poule morte n'avait pas d'œufs d'or dans son estomac. しかし、悲しいことに、死んだガチョウのお腹の中には金色の卵は一つもありませんでした。 당연히 농부는 그 후에는 황금알을 구경조차 못하게 되었죠. Of course, the farmer couldn't even see the golden egg after that. Naturellement, le fermier n'a plus jamais vu l'œuf d'or.

뭐 이게 별거 아닌 얘기라고도 할 수 있겠지만, 저는 이 얘기가 외국어 배우는 데 적용될 수 있는 좋은 비유라고 생각합니다. Well, you can say that this is not a big deal, but I think this is a good analogy that can be applied to learning a foreign language. On pourrait dire qu'il s'agit d'un point trivial, mais je pense qu'il s'agit d'une bonne analogie qui peut s'appliquer à l'apprentissage d'une langue étrangère. まあこれは大したことない話とも言えますが、私はこの話は外国語の学習に適用できる良い例えだと思います。

여기서 황금알은 외국어를 배우는 사람이 거두고 싶어하는 열매라고 할 수 있어요. Here, the golden egg is the fruit that a person learning a foreign language wants to reap. L'œuf d'or est ici le fruit que l'apprenant d'une langue étrangère espère récolter. 이루려고 하는 결과죠. This is the result you are trying to achieve. Le résultat que vous essayez d'obtenir. 단어를 많이 알게 되는 것, 문장을 막 만들어 낼 수 있게 되는 것, 원어민이랑 대화를 할 수 있게 되는 것, 이런 것들입니다. Knowing a lot of words, being able to make sentences right away, being able to have a conversation with native speakers, these things. Vous connaissez beaucoup de mots, vous pouvez commencer à faire des phrases, vous pouvez avoir une conversation avec un locuteur natif. 単語をたくさん知ること、文章を作り出せるようになること、ネイティブと会話ができるようになること、こういうことです。 바로 실력이죠. That's skill. C'est de la compétence.

그리고 여기서 거위는 이 실력이 나오도록 해주는 원동력입니다. And the goose here is the driving force that allows this skill to come out. Et l'oie est l'œuf qui fait sortir le jars. そしてここでのガチョウは、この実力を発揮させる原動力です。 열매가 열리도록 해주는 뿌리같은 거죠. It's like the root that makes the fruit grow. C'est comme une racine qui permet au fruit de s'ouvrir. 바로 배우는 언어에 대한 흥미와 호기심, 즉 그 언어에 대한 입맛입니다. Interest and curiosity about the language you are learning, that is, your taste for the language. C'est l'intérêt et la curiosité que vous portez à la langue que vous apprenez - votre appétit pour elle.

거위를 잘 먹이고 돌보면 매일 황금알을 얻을 수 있듯이, 배우는 언어에 대한 입맛을 높게 유지하면 실력은 저절로 늘어납니다. Just as you can get golden eggs every day if you feed and care for your goose well, if you keep your appetite for the language you are learning high, your skills will naturally improve. Tout comme une oie bien nourrie et soignée donnera un œuf d'or chaque jour, maintenez votre appétit pour la langue que vous apprenez et vos compétences se développeront d'elles-mêmes. ガチョウに餌を与え、世話をすれば毎日黄金の卵を得ることができるように、学ぶ言語に対する好奇心を高く保てば、実力は自然に伸びます。 흥미가 있으니까 그냥 더 배우게 되는 거죠. I just learn more because I'm interested. On en apprend plus parce qu'on est intéressé. 입맛이 돌면 그냥 더 많이 먹게 되는 거랑 똑같은 원리예요. It's the same principle as when your appetite turns, you just eat more. C'est la même chose que lorsqu'on prend goût à quelque chose, on en mange davantage. 거위가 건강하면 알은 그냥 저절로 나옵니다. If the goose is healthy, the eggs will just come out on their own. Si l'oie est en bonne santé, les œufs sortiront d'eux-mêmes. ガチョウが健康であれば、卵は自然に出てきます。

반대로 배우는 언어에 대한 입맛이 떨어진 상태에서 너무 공부 욕심을 많이 내는 건 좋지 않겠죠. Conversely, it would not be good to be too greedy for studying when you have lost your taste for the language you are learning. Inversement, il ne faut pas être trop pressé d'apprendre alors que l'appétit pour la langue s'est émoussé. 그러면 억지로 하는 거니까 효과도 떨어집니다. If you do it forcibly, the effect will be diminished. C'est forcé et donc moins efficace. 거위를 잘 돌보지도 않으면서 무조건 알만 빼내려고 하는 거랑 똑같애요. It's the same as trying to get the eggs out without taking good care of the goose. C'est comme essayer de tirer tous les œufs d'une oie sans en prendre soin. ガチョウの世話もろくにせず、ただひたすら卵だけを取り出そうとするのと同じです。 이러다가는 거위가 죽어버립니다. At this point, the goose will die. Cela va tuer l'oie.

아, 그리고 황금알과 거위의 이야기는 사람 간의 관계에도 적용이 되는 거 같애요. Oh, and I think the story of the golden egg and the goose also applies to human relationships. Oh, et je pense que l'histoire de l'œuf d'or et de l'oie s'applique également aux relations humaines.

여기서 황금알은 그 관계로부터 얻고 싶어하는 결과입니다. The golden egg here is the desired outcome from the relationship. L'œuf d'or est le résultat que vous souhaitez obtenir de cette relation. ここでの金の卵は、その関係から得たい結果です。 내가 그 사람한테서 원하는 행동, 그 사람이 내게 보였으면 하는 태도, 이런 거죠. Les comportements que je veux voir chez lui, l'attitude que je veux qu'il ait envers moi, des choses comme ça. 私がその人に望む行動、その人に見せてほしい態度、こういうことです。 나한테 좀 잘 해줬으면 좋겠다... 내 말을 좀 잘 들었으면 좋겠다... 나를 좀 이해해줬으면 좋겠다... 나를 무시하지 않았으면 좋겠다... 이런 것들입니다. I want you to be nice to me... I hope you listen to me... I hope you understand me... I hope you don't ignore me... Things like this. J'aimerais que tu sois gentil avec moi... J'aimerais que tu m'écoutes mieux... J'aimerais que tu me comprennes... J'aimerais que tu arrêtes de m'ignorer... Des choses comme ça.

그리고 여기서 거위는 상대에게서 그런 결과가 나올 수 있도록 해주는 뿌리입니다. And the goose here is the root that allows that outcome to come out of the other person. L'oie est la racine qui permet à l'adversaire d'obtenir ce résultat. そしてここでのガチョウは、相手からそのような結果が出せるようにする根源です。 상대가 나한테 그런 행동과 태도를 보이게 되는 이유죠. It is the reason why the other person shows such behavior and attitude towards me. C'est pourquoi ils se comportent et agissent comme ils le font à mon égard. 나와 그 사람 사이의 친밀함, 존중, 믿음, 사랑, 이런 것들입니다. Intimacy between me and that person, respect, trust, love, these things. L'intimité, le respect, la confiance, l'amour, les choses de ce genre entre vous et cette personne. 私とその人との間の親密さ、尊敬、信頼、愛、こういうものです。

이런 게 관계의 밑바닥에 깔려 있지 않으면 좋은 행동이나 좋은 말이 나오기는 힘들어요. If this isn't at the bottom of the relationship, it's hard to come up with good actions or good words. Il est difficile de faire ou de dire quelque chose de gentil si ce n'est pas à la base de la relation. 죽은 거위한테서 황금알이 나오는 게 불가능하듯이. Just as it is impossible for a golden egg to come out of a dead goose. Tout comme on ne peut pas obtenir un œuf d'or d'une oie morte. 死んだガチョウから黄金の卵が出ることは不可能であるように。 외국어 공부와 마찬가지로 인간관계에서도 우선 거위를 잘 키우는 것이 가장 중요합니다. Just like studying a foreign language, raising a goose is the most important thing in human relationships. Dans les relations, comme dans l'apprentissage d'une langue étrangère, il est important de commencer par développer une solide estime de soi. 그래야 그 관계에서 좋은 열매가 계속 나와요. Only then will good fruits continue to come out of that relationship.

이거야말로 모든 관계에 똑같이 적용되는 불변의 자연법칙입니다. It's an immutable law of nature that applies equally to all relationships. C'est une loi immuable de la nature qui s'applique de la même manière à toutes les relations. 그게 부부 사이든, 부모랑 자식 사이든, 친구 사이든, 직장이나 사업 관계든, 다 똑같애요. Whether it's between a husband and wife, parents and children, friends, work or business relationships, it's all the same. それが夫婦間であれ、親子間であれ、友人間であれ、仕事やビジネス関係であれ、すべて同じです。

제가 살아오면서 사람과의 관계가 크게 흔들렸을 때를 살펴보면 주로 이런 이유였습니다. When I look at the times in my life when my relationships with people have faltered, it's usually for this reason. Lorsque je regarde les moments de ma vie où mes relations avec les gens ont été difficiles, c'est généralement à cause de cela. 거위를 잘 키울 생각은 안 하고 황금알에만 욕심을 부린 거죠. I didn't think about raising geese well, and I was only greedy for golden eggs. Ils étaient avides de la poule aux œufs d'or, et non de l'oie. 저 사람이 나한테 이렇게 해줬으면 좋겠다, 그런 생각만 하는 거예요. I just want that person to do this to me, that's all. Vous vous dites : "Je veux qu'il fasse ça pour moi", et c'est tout. あの人にこうしてほしい、そんなことばかり考えているんです。 내가 원하는 결과만 생각하는 거예요. I only think about the results I want. 그 관계의 뿌리를 튼튼하게 할 생각은 하질 않는 거예요. They don't think about strengthening the roots of that relationship.
