قلتُ لكم أصغيتُ للبحَار I told you I listened to the seas

تقرأ لي أشعارَها؛ read me their poems;

أصغيتْ للجَرس النائم في المحارْ؛ I listened to the bell sleeping in the oyster;

قلتُ لكم غنّيتْ I told you that I sang

في عُرُسِ الشيطان ، في وليمة الخُرافهْ ؛قلت لكم رأيتْ At the devil's wedding, at the feast of superstition, I told you I saw

في مطر التاريخ ، في توهّج المسافَهْ In the rain of history, in the glow of distance

جِنّيّةٌ وبيتْ ؛ a fairy and a house;

لأنني أُبحر في عَينيّ Because I sail in my eyes

قلت لكم رأيتُ كلّ شيّ I told you I saw it all
