Empuriabrava. Viernes, 1 de agosto. 12.00 h. Los abuelos de Nacho, el amigo de Raúl que tiene una Harley, entran en el apartamento 112 del edificio The sun of the beach, frente al mar de Empuriabrava. Su nieto les ha dado unas llaves junto con la dirección del apartamento escrita en un papelito y les ha dicho que pueden pasar el verano en la playa, mientras él está en Londres trabajando y aprendiendo inglés. Nacho tiene mala memoria y no recuerda que su amigo Raúl tiene también unas llaves del mismo apartamento. «Puedes ir cuando quieras», le ha dicho también a Raúl. Los abuelos de Nacho viven en una comarca del interior de Girona. Mercè21, la abuela, es diabética y tiene muy mal la vista. Necesita inyectarse insulina dos veces al día y habla a gritos porque, Pepe, su marido, está sordo como una tapia22. Como mucha gente de su edad, viajan con una gran cantidad de medicamentos. −Nacho es muy buen chico −dice Mercè desde la cocina−. Se acuerda de sus abuelos. Este apartamento está muy bien. No tiene vistas al mar, pero… −No, ahora no me voy a bañar −dice Pepe, mirando el mar desde la puerta de la terraza del comedor. −Voy a guardar la insulina en la nevera −dice Mercè abriendo la puerta del horno. −No, no quiero comer ahora −dice Pepe al ver a su mujer en la cocina. −¿Comer? No tenemos comida −dice Mercè mirando el interior del horno−. Tenemos que ir a un restaurante. −¿Has comprado un bogavante? −Pepe abre la nevera−. ¿Dónde está el bogavante? −¿Qué bogavante? −Mercè tropieza con su marido−. ¿Qué haces aquí delante? −¡En la nevera no hay ningún bogavante! ¡Ni detrás ni delante!− dice Pepe. −¡Pues claro! Ya te he dicho que no hay comida. ¿Quieres comer bogavante? −¡No! −grita Pepe−. ¡No me gusta el bogavante! −No grites. A mí tampoco me gusta el bogavante. Pepe saca la insulina del horno y la guarda en la nevera, que está llena de comida. −Bueno, vamos −dice Pepe, cogiendo a su mujer del brazo−. Si quieres comer bogavante, vamos al restaurante. −¡Comer, comer! Solo piensas en comer, Pepe −dice Mercè−. Comes demasiado. Ayer compramos mucha comida y hoy no hay nada en la nevera. Comes cuando yo no te veo… Cogen el ascensor. −¡Coño23, Mercè! Tú no me ves nunca. −De vez en cuando Pepe entiende algo de lo que dice su mujer. −Yo no veo bien, ya lo sé, pero tú estás cada día más gordo. −Yo solo estoy un poco sordo. −¡Y gordo! −Sí, sordo. −¡Gordo! ¡Gordo! ¡Gordo! −grita Mercè saliendo del ascensor. El vecino del apartamento 320, que pesa ciento veinte kilos y está esperando para subir a su piso, la mira sorprendido.
