O estado se desmembrou de Goiás em 1989

e no mesmo ano adotou a nova bandeira.

Ela traz a mensagem de integração

O azul é a hidrografia privilegiada,

o amarelo as riquezas minerais,

o branco a paz

e o sol, além de nascer para todos,

também derrama seus raios sobre o futuro do estado.

O triângulo foi proposto por Tiradentes

e remete à santíssima trindade,

mas acreditam historiadores

que, na verdade, é o símbolo da maçonaria,

já que a Inconfidência Mineira
