Portuguese LingQ Podcast 1.0, Dez: Mairo and Ayla, Londrina

Dez: Mairo and Ayla, Londrina

A: É

A: Incrível.

A: Do Ravel.

M: Do Ravel.

A: Daquela fez?

M: Uhmuhm.

M: A gente é assim.

A: Norte do Paraná.

M: É. Norte do Paraná, sul do Brasil.

A: Sul do Brasil.

Primeiro estado da região sul. M: Uhmuhm.

Lingq ( L I NG Q).com e estude a transcrição desse texto. E é isso ai. Aqui é o Mairo Vergara. E a A: Ayla.

M: Maomi.

A: Maomi

M: Well, here is recording another podcast today, one day late, because we had some technical problems there, and the podcast was supposed to come out yesterday, on Friday, and ... but we ended up recording only today on Saturday, and then, well, it will come out… right after recording we are already uploading the podcast there. Yeah ... today Ayla and I, we are here at Ayla's house again and I even wanted to apologize if there is some background noise, because we live in the city center, so there is a lot of car and movement noise, so sometimes if there is any noise in the background it is because of the noise of the city and if there is any very loud noise I stop talking and after the noise has subsided I continue. A: You can also fly here, when you come, you can fly some plane and do fuuu.

M: There is also this because the airport is close by, so some planes pass here from time to time while they are very low, they land ..., oh there's one.

A: Hier oben gibt es einen Jet. A: It's jetting up here. A: Un avión pasa por aquí. M: É está passando exactamente agora. M: It is happening right now.

É um avião de porte menor. Es ist ein kleineres Flugzeug. It is a smaller aircraft. Dá para escutar? Can you hear it? Não sei se vocês conseguem escutar. I don't know if you can hear it. A: I think the jet does not make as much noise as the big ones.

M: So since we are talking about noise, today we are going to talk a little bit about the city.

We live here in the city of Londrina, in the interior of Paraná, and Paraná is a state in southern Brazil, for those who do not know the geography of Brazil. Yes, Londrina is not the capital, the capital and Coritiba, but it is a big city, it has some… how many inhabitants? A: Basically about five hundred thousand, but it's already almost six hundred and fifty, around, a thousand inhabitants ...

M: É, uns 500, 600 mil habitantes, mais ou menos, M: Yes, about 500, 600 thousand inhabitants, more or less,

A: É, por ai. A: Yeah, around there.

M: Well, what we like here in Londrina ... what is it ... there are several good things here, right, for a city in the countryside.

A: Die Hochschule, die eine der besten in Brasilien ist, Kendo-Londrina, was ich für sehr wichtig halte. A: The college that is one of the best in Brazil, kendo-London, which I think it does, which is very important.

I think that in Londrina, Londrina is only seventy-two years old, I think, and because she was that age she grew a lot. You see Londrina as it is ... it has the size of a big city, but it is still growing. M: Yeah. And another one that is good here in Londrina ... It is a very cultural city.

A: É A: Yeah

M: Tem uns eventos, tem vários festivais. M: There are some events, there are several festivals.

A: There is music show, jazz festival, dance festival, there is FILO.

FILO is… Theater comes from all over the world to present… M: Yeah. FILO is the International Festival of Londrina, theater festival I think that if I am not mistaken it is the largest theater festival in South America and groups from all over the world come to perform and for sure FILO is one of the biggest attractions of City. A: E não e caro. A: And it is not expensive.

M: É, é barato. M: Yeah, it's cheap.

Os ingressos são baratos. Tickets are cheap. It is a very good opportunity, if you intend to come to Londrina, it comes at the time of FILO. Mas tem outros festivais. But there are other festivals. It has a very interesting music festival. A: Festival de jazz A: Jazz festival

M: O festival de jazz também. M: The jazz festival too.

Que é separado. That is separate. There is one that is only of music, more varied, and there is a specific jazz. Tem um festival literário? Do you have a literary festival? A: Yeah, LONDRIX, right, what we call LONDRIX, which is a literary festival, which even has poetry, book presentations…

M: Esse é um festival ainda menor… M: This is an even smaller festival ...

A: I think it's the third year this year, if they are going to do it.

LONDRIX is not that long ago. M: Yes, the literary festival is starting, but the others already have more tradition and in addition to these various festivals, well, there is the orchestra, too.

A: E que é muito importante. A: And that is very important.

OSUEL, which is the UEL symphony orchestra, from the State University of Londrina, that we will always see, when there is their season, which is very good. I don't even know what to say, it's really good. M: Yes, the university orchestra is really good and it is usually difficult to have an orchestra in your city, in the city where we live, the first time I went to see a live orchestra was here in Londrina because there is this orchestra and shows throughout the year and are free, right, and really fantastic.

I didn't like it very much, it's not that I didn't like it, but I didn't listen to much classical music, but I started to like it because (BECAUSE IT'S A WRONG CONSTRUCTION, both orally and in writing, at least in Portuguese in Portugal. Because + that should be replaced by WHY) I started watching the orchestra's performances, which is something like that really… A: Incrível. A: Incredible.

M: Incrível mesmo. M: Incredible indeed.
