Liber Psalmorum, Psalmi 31-60, Psalmus 052

Psalmus 052

1 In finem, pro Maëleth intelligentiæ David. to|the end|for|Maeleth|understanding|David 1 For the end, for Maeleth, a song of understanding by David. Dixit insipiens in corde suo : Non est Deus. he said|the fool|in|heart|his|not|is|God The fool has said in his heart: There is no God. 2 Corrupti sunt, et abominabiles facti sunt in iniquitatibus ; non est qui faciat bonum. they are corrupted|they are|and|abominable|they have become|they are|in|iniquities|not|is|who|does|good They are corrupt, and have become abominable in their iniquities; there is none who does good. 3 Deus de cælo prospexit super filios hominum, ut videat si est intelligens, aut requirens Deum. God|from|heaven|he has looked|upon|sons|of men|that|he may see|if|he is|wise|or|seeking|God 3 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, or seek after God. 4 Omnes declinaverunt ; simul inutiles facti sunt : non est qui faciat bonum, non est usque ad unum. all|they have turned aside|together|useless|having become|they are|not|there is|who|does|good|not|there is|even|to|one 4 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt: there is none who does good, not even one. 5 Nonne scient omnes qui operantur iniquitatem, qui devorant plebem meam ut cibum panis ? surely|they will know|all|who|they work|wickedness|who|they devour|people|my|as|food|bread 5 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread? 6 Deum non invocaverunt ; illic trepidaverunt timore, ubi non erat timor. God|not|they have called upon|there|they trembled|with fear|where|not|there was|fear 6 They do not call upon God; there they are in great fear, where there is no fear. Quoniam Deus dissipavit ossa eorum qui hominibus placent : confusi sunt, quoniam Deus sprevit eos. for|God|has scattered|bones|of them|who|to men|please|they are confounded|they are|for|God|has rejected|them Since God has scattered the bones of those who please men: they are confounded, because God has despised them. 7 Quis dabit ex Sion salutare Israël ? who|will give|from|Zion|salvation|to Israel Who will give salvation to Israel from Zion? cum converterit Deus captivitatem plebis suæ, exsultabit Jacob, et lætabitur Israël. when|he has turned|God|captivity|of the people|his|he will rejoice|Jacob|and|he will be glad|Israel When God turns the captivity of His people, Jacob will rejoice, and Israel will be glad.
