Gospel of Luke, Luc 18

Luc 18

21 Qui ait : Hæc omnia custodivi a juventute mea.

At ille dixit : Domine, ut videam.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||"did not respect" 18 1 And he spoke a parable to them, because it is necessary always to pray and not to fail, 2 saying: There was a certain judge in a certain city who did not fear God and did not respect man. Widow|"however" or "but"|"a certain"|||"in the city"||||||||||| 3 Now there was a certain widow in that city, and she came to him, saying: Avenge me from my adversary. 4 Et nolebat per multum tempus. 4 And he did not want it for a long time. Post hæc autem dixit intra se : Etsi Deum non timeo, nec hominem revereor : 5 tamen quia molesta est mihi hæc vidua, vindicabo illam, ne in novissimo veniens sugillet me. ||||||||||||"Respect" or "fear"||||||||"I will avenge"||||||"strike me"| After these things he said within himself: Although I do not fear God, nor do I revere man: 5 nevertheless, because this widow is a trouble to me, I will avenge her, lest in the last time she come and seal me up. 6 Ait autem Dominus : Audite quid judex iniquitatis dicit : 7 Deus autem non faciet vindictam electorum suorum clamantium ad se die ac nocte, et patientiam habebit in illis ? |||||||||||||"of the chosen"||"crying out"|||||||"patience with them"||| 6 And the Lord said: Hear what the judge of iniquity says: 7 But will God not avenge his chosen ones who cry to him day and night, and will he have patience with them? 8 Dico vobis quia cito faciet vindictam illorum. 8 I tell you that he will quickly avenge them. Verumtamen Filius hominis veniens, putas, inveniet fidem in terra ? |||||"will he find"||| Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, do you think he will find faith on earth?

||||"some people"||||"trusted in themselves"||||"despised others"||||||||||"to pray"|||||tax collector 9 He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves as righteous, and despised others: 10 Two men went up to the temple to pray: one a Pharisee and the other a publican. 11 Pharisæus stans, hæc apud se orabat : Deus, gratias ago tibi, quia non sum sicut ceteri hominum : raptores, injusti, adulteri, velut etiam hic publicanus : 12 jejuno bis in sabbato, decimas do omnium quæ possideo. ||||||||||||||||robbers||adulterers|||||I fast||||||||"I possess" 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed this to himself: God, I thank you that I am not like other people: extortionists, unjust, adulterers, like even this publican: 12 I fast twice on the Sabbath, I give tenths of all that I possess. ||||||||||||"was beating"||||||||"sinner" 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying: God be merciful to me a sinner. ||||"made righteous"|||||||||||||||| 14 I tell you, this one went down justified to his house from him: because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

18 Et interrogavit eum quidam princeps, dicens : Magister bone, quid faciens vitam æternam possidebo ? 18 And a certain prince asked him, saying: Good teacher, by doing what shall I inherit eternal life? 19 Dixit autem ei Jesus : Quid me dicis bonum ? 19 And Jesus said to him: Why do you call me good? nemo bonus nisi solus Deus. no one is good but God alone. |||You shall not kill.|"not" or "do not"|You shall not commit adultery||steal|"you shall commit"||false||"you will give"|Honor|your father||| 20 You know the commandments: you shall not kill; you shall not be molested; do not commit theft; you will not bear false witness; honor your father and your mother. 21 Qui ait : Hæc omnia custodivi a juventute mea. ||||||||we are going|||will be fulfilled||||||||||"will be delivered"||||"will be mocked"||"will be scourged"||"will be spit upon"|||"they have scourged"|they will kill|||||"will rise again" 31 And Jesus took the twelve and said to them: Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all that has been written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. on the day he will rise again. ||||||||||||||"they did not understand"|| 34 And they themselves understood nothing of these things, and this word was hidden from them, and they did not understand what was said.
