Vicky Sam: Hi, Jungyoon!
Vicky Sam: Thank you so much for joining us on the podcast.
Jung Yoon: My name is Jung Yoon and I live in Seoul.
Jung Yoon: Korean names usually have three characters.
Jung Yoon: My last name is "Jung" and my first name is "Yoon" because I am an only child with only two characters.
Jung Yoon: I live in a neighborhood that is close to the Han River and Seoul Forest.
Jungyoon: I love walking in the Seoul forest.
Jung Yoon: I'm the kind of person who likes to practice yoga after work.
Vicky Sam: Today we're going to be talking to Mr. Yoon about his job.
Vicky Sam: Let's start with what you're doing, Mr. Yoon.
Vicky Sam: Can you tell me about what you're doing now?
Jungyoon: I'm currently working as a community manager.
Yoon Jung: Community manager has been working for various companies recently.
Jung Yoon: It can be said that this is a new job group.
Jung Yoon: Where I work is a shared office.
Jung Yoon: In a shared office called FastFive in Korea.
Jung Yoon: Usually, when we think of shared offices, we think of
Jung Yoon: WeWork is well known and
Jung Yoon: Now we have an office, a place where different companies can move in.
Jung Yoon: We have a shared office space,
Jung Yoon: The people who are using the space within that
Jung Yoon: It's about managing and running that space as well.
Vicky Sam: Then about what you are doing now
Bicky Sam: Are you personally satisfied overall?
Jung Yoon: Actually, I am very satisfied.
Jungyun: Because I was previously
Jung Yoon: Originally, it was a place called WeWork.
Jung Yoon: While working as a community manager
Jung Yoon: There was an opportunity to change my career,
Jung Yoon: I actually changed that career path.
Jung Yoon: I came back to the shared office industry.
Jung Yoon: That's why I actually love being a community manager.
Jung Yoon: Because I'm happy with that
Jung Yoon: I actually came back to that career,
JungYoon: There are so many reasons to be happy.
Jungyun: First of all, it fits my personality very well.
Jung Yoon: I met a lot of people.
Jungyun: To relieve the discomfort of those people
Jung Yoon: And while managing the space, we are faced with a wide variety of problems.
Jung Yoon: You have that autonomy to solve those problems.
Jung Yoon: Because it is given a very dynamic environment
Jung Yoon: I think working in that environment
JungYoon: I realized that I liked it.
Jungyun: That’s why, in terms of work,
Jung Yoon: I'm rather satisfied.
Big Key Sam: Then, when you choose your main job or profession,
Vicky Sam: Do you have any specific personal criteria?
Jung Yoon: I graduated from university in 2017 and
Jungyoon: I started working.
JungYoon: I've actually been through a lot of companies.
Jeongyun: I changed jobs many times that much,
Jung Yoon: The company you are currently working for is the fourth company.
Jung Yoon: I think it's probably because I've been through a lot of companies.
Jung Yoon: I don't know that I have any selection criteria.
Jungyun: I can tell you that it happened,
Jung Yoon: First of all, I'd like to say how much fun I have in that environment.
Jung Yoon: Is it possible to work with the will?
Jung Yoon: I realized that it was very important to me.
Jung Yoon: So, if you think of a workplace called a shared office as a
Jung Yoon: I can tell you that it's a choice,
Jung Yoon: And I'm in one place
Jung Yoon: So usually when we start working in a company, we're like.
Jung Yoon: Very few prime numbers in one space,
Jeongyun: It’s the same company you’ve always seen.
Jungyoon: Often only people see it.
Jung Yoon: I prefer not to be in that kind of environment.
Jung Yoon: With more diverse backgrounds
Jung Yoon: I love meeting people who are doing different things.
Jungyoon: They liked it a lot better.
Jung Yoon: So, in that sense, the
Jung Yoon: When I started working in a shared office,
Jung Yoon: People from different companies
Jung Yoon: Meeting people who do different things
Jung Yoon: Very good.
Jung Yoon: That was also my selection criteria.
Jung Yoon: And I have the autonomy
Jungyoon: I think it's very important to do your job.
Jung Yoon: Of course, there are some systems that are organized by the company.
Jungyoon: There's not much I can do about it.
Jung Yoon: It might feel like it,
Jung Yoon: Even within that, when I have a lot of choices.
Jung Yoon: And that those choices are respected and
Jung Yoon: The way I want to do it is
Jung Yoon: When it is more likely to be adopted internally
Jung Yoon: I am much more motivated and
Jung Yoon: It's fun and it's something that I can do.
Jung Yoon: I realized.
Jungyoon: So that's why the selection criteria is
Jungyun: I think it's a bit ready.
Vicky Sam: Then when you work
Vicky Sam: What do you think you are specifically?
Vicky Sam: So, for example
Big Key Sam: My personality that appears when I do business,
Vickey Sam: Or when you're doing some kind of work, you're more focused.
Vicky Sam: You're attracted to it.
Vicky Sam: Can you tell me something like this?
Jung Yoon: I'm a very meticulous person when it comes to my work.
Jeong-yoon: And I think it's very important.
Jungyun: If I think about it based on the environment in which I work now,
Jungyoon: Actually, not only in space
Jungyun: Because there are so many issues about people,
Jung Yoon: I have to solve several things at the same time.
Jung Yoon: There are many situations.
Jeongyoon: But if you don't take care of it meticulously at that time
Jung Yoon: What am I doing?
Jungyun: There may be omissions in what I have to do,
Jeongyun: Or when this is not completely solved by one
Jungyun: Another person once again
Jeong-yoon: The problem of having to do it again also arises.
Jeongyun: It is very important to handle the work meticulously
Jeongyun: When an issue pops up
Jeongyoon: It's not just looking at one side.
Jung Yoon: There are a lot of different aspects surrounding that topic.
Jeongyoon: We should consider it together.
Jeong-yoon: That's why it's important to handle things very meticulously
Jeongyun: I tend to put a lot of effort into doing that.
Jung Yoon: And then when you're working
Jung Yoon: One of the things that I think is very important
Jung Yoon: I think it's probably time to start thinking about how to use
Jung Yoon: A lot of the team, I mean, I'm the center of the team.
Jung Yoon: Even with people inside the company.
Jung Yoon: And the customers that I have to deal with,
Jung Yoon: We call them members.
Jung Yoon: There are so many different ways to communicate.
Jung Yoon: It's important to be able to communicate well.
JungYoon: This also requires careful communication.
Jung Yoon: First of all, when you're communicating internally.
Jungyoon: Are we on the same page with this?
Jungyoon: In terms of how to solve it
JungYoon: Are we on the same page?
Jung Yoon: Or if you have a different idea.
Jung Yoon: Which is better
Jung Yoon: It's a collaborative process.
Jung Yoon: Even in the process of solving this
Jung Yoon: How do you talk to stakeholders about the process?
Jung Yoon: By keeping communication open
Jung Yoon: I think it's important that we can continue to align
Jung Yoon: I think it's very important.
Jung Yoon: And also externally with our customers and our
Jung Yoon: When you're communicating
Jung Yoon: For now, we're going to focus on answering customer questions.
Jung Yoon: We're trying to find a solution to their exact problem.
JungYoon: I thought that we needed to communicate that.
Jung Yoon: To make this communication really good.
Jung Yoon: I try to do my best.
Vicky Sam: Yeah, that's great, thank you very much.
Vicky Sam: I was just talking about the whole idea of what you're doing.
Vicky Sam: You said you're happy with it.
Vicky Sam: So your job right now is
Bikkisam: How does your values, aptitudes, or personality fit in with your
Vicky Sam: Do you think it's a good fit?
Vicky Sam: Or if there's something that's a little bit lacking, or if there's something that could be improved.
Vicky Sam: If there's anything you wish you could do differently.
Vicky Sam: What are some of those?
Jung Yoon: Yeah. I think it's probably time to move to
Jung Yoon: I went through a lot of companies and realized that this was the right fit for me.
JungYoon: I'm in this industry because I thought about it,
Jung Yoon: I'm a very introverted person by nature.
Jung Yoon: But when I actually thought about it,
Jung Yoon: You have to communicate with a lot of different people.
Jung Yoon: You have to build relationships, and this is why
Jung Yoon: A common misconception is that
Jung Yoon: "Someone with an extroverted personality would be a good fit for the job.
Jung Yoon: There's a common stereotype that's like, "Oh, yeah.
Jung Yoon: But I'd rather say that I'm personally an introvert.
Jung Yoon: When you're working, you're constantly interacting with different people.
Jung Yoon: It's a great way to work with a group of people.
JungYoon: They preferred the environment.
Jung Yoon: That's why it's better to use
Jung Yoon: It's a little different from my personal aptitude.
Jungyoon: I think it's a great fit, and I think it's a great fit,
Jung Yoon: And I think the part I don't like now is...
Jung Yoon: Absolutely.
Jung Yoon: Well, there are also things that need to be improved in the company.
Jung Yoon: I think there is.
Jung Yoon: I just want to make sure that this community manager
Jung Yoon: Since the job title itself was just created, it's been a while since we've seen
Jung Yoon: I think it's more specifically
Jung Yoon: It's a great way to be known by a lot of people
Jung Yoon: We want more people to be able to choose
Jung Yoon: I would like it to be one thing.
Jung Yoon: That would require people who are community managers right now to use the
Jung Yoon: I need to keep doing this more, more, more, more, longer.
Jung Yoon: And then people talk about this community manager thing.
Jung Yoon: I think it's because you get to know and you can choose
Jung Yoon: It's more of a way to make sure that it's well established.
Jung Yoon: So, I want to keep doing my job well.
Bicky Sam: You said you got married recently.
Vicky Sam: So when we choose a spouse
Vicky Sam: I have an idealized idea of what I like in a person,
Vicky Sam: Similarly, in jobs, there's this concept of the "dream job.
Vicky Sam: Not necessarily a dream job.
Vicky Sam: Well, these are the things that need to be met for me to be satisfied and for me to be able to say
Vicky Sam: You can also dedicate yourself to this profession
Vicky Sam: I think you have your own criteria.
Vicky Sam: Your Ideal Place, Your Ideal Job?
Vicky Sam: What do those things mean to you?
Jungyun: I'd rather, now this is true these days
Jung Yoon: It's more about the company than the job.
Jungyun: I think I'm going to focus a lot.
Jung Yoon: When people make choices
Jung Yoon: But I've gone through a lot of companies, and I'd rather have a company than a
Jungyun: About what kind of work I want to do in the future
Jungyun: I worry a lot.
Jungyun: I feel a bit like that these days.
Jung Yoon: I'd like to do what I'm good at first,
Jung Yoon: Make society better by doing what you do best
Jung Yoon: I think it's really important to realize that you want to do something that you can create, that you can contribute to.
Jung Yoon: I think about it a lot.
Jung Yoon: So it's just a matter of choosing which company to go with.
Jungyun: Now, as I said before
Jung Yoon: I'm looking for criteria
Jung Yoon: And because I prefer this kind of environment.
Jungyun: I like what I'm doing now,
Jung Yoon: So you're doing this, but you're also
Jung Yoon: I just thought it was a dream job.
Jung Yoon: I'm doing what I'm good at.
Jung Yoon: I'm looking forward to working with the
Jung Yoon: I organized myself a bit,
Jung Yoon: So, when I did that, I was like
Jung Yoon: So, if you say, "What are you good at?
Jung Yoon: What I think I'm good at is I'm good at
Jung Yoon: I think that it is conveying to people with your voice.
Jungyoon: But it's a little bit more
Jung Yoon: A person who can change society for the better
JungYoon: I think that's a dream job for me.
Jung Yoon: But when I did that
JungYoon: I'd rather be good at
Jung Yoon: Because you think you're going to like it,
Jung Yoon: That would be my dream job.
Jungyoon: I'm going to try to find it.
Vicky Sam: Do you plan to do what you're doing for the rest of your life?
Vicky Sam: Or you can just use the
Vicky Sam: As you're chasing those ideals.
Vicky Sam: Are you open to changing jobs at some point?
Jungyun: I am doing what I am doing now with great satisfaction.
Jung Yoon: I love the environment I'm working in right now.
Jung Yoon: The nature of my job is that I get to meet a lot of different people.
Jung Yoon: Being in various circumstances
JungYoon: I thought I could develop a lot of problem-solving skills.
Jung Yoon: 'Right now, I'm changing jobs'
Jung Yoon: We don't have any plans to do that.
Jung Yoon: The dream job that I was just talking about earlier.
Jung Yoon: It's a little more fleshed out,
Jung Yoon: "I want to do more of this in this field.
Jung Yoon: If I get caught, I'll be able to grow in that direction.
Jeongyun: I wonder if we can find a way.
Jung Yoon: So you get more experience and
Jungyoon: I think I can do a little bit better.
Jung Yoon: When you're a little more polished,
JungYoon: I would like to realize such a dream job when the opportunity comes.
Vickey Sam: Lastly, worrying about your career path or finding a job?
Big Key Sam: A lot of people all over the world sympathize and
Big Key Sam: And in common, we have no choice but to have one day.
Vicky Sam: I think that's the question.
Vicky Sam: So for those of you who are having these career concerns, I'd like to give you some advice.

Vicky Sam: If you have a message of encouragement, please share it.
Jung Yoon: Yeah. I actually went through quite a few companies.
Jung Yoon: So when I became a part of something.
Jung Yoon: 'I'm going to do this for the rest of my life'
Jungyoon: I think it was something like this.
Jung Yoon: Especially when I joined my first company.
Jung Yoon: Whether or not the job or the company is a good fit for me is a matter of
Jung Yoon: You really don't know until you get in there.
Jung Yoon: That's actually, obviously, enough
Jung Yoon: I think it can be changed.
Jung Yoon: So for those of you who are still looking for a job right now, I'm going to recommend that you use the

Jungyun: I wish I could make my own path
Jung Yoon: I'd like to say something.
JungYoon: At the end of the day, I'm the one doing the work.
Jungyoon: You can make your own path.
Jung Yoon: What if I'm in a company and I'm trying to figure out how to get
Jungyoon: Is this really the right path?
Jung Yoon: For those who are thinking about it, I would say that
Jung Yoon: I would say that you can make drastic changes.
